Perimenopause is often associated with irregular periods and hot flashes, but its effects can extend far beyond your menstrual cycle.

As hormone levels fluctuate during the years leading up to menopause, many women experience changes that affect both their physical and emotional well-being. Common symptoms may include:

πŸ‘‰ Mood swings or irritability
πŸ‘‰ Increased anxiety or low mood
πŸ‘‰ Trouble sleeping
πŸ‘‰ Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
πŸ‘‰ Fatigue or low energy

Because these symptoms can develop gradually, they're sometimes dismissed as "just stress" or a normal part of getting older. However, they may be related to perimenopause and deserve attention.

If these changes affect your daily life, talk with a healthcare provider to identify the cause and explore treatment options. After all, understanding what's happening in your body is an important first step toward getting the care and support you deserve.

Wellness tip: try unplugging before bed πŸŒ™

A calming bedtime routine can help prepare your mind and body for rest. One simple habit to try is stepping away from screens before bedtime.

The blue light from devices, along with stimulating content and notifications, can make it harder for some people to relax and transition into sleep.

Try this:
πŸ‘‰ Put away phones, tablets, and laptops 30–60 minutes before bed when possible
πŸ‘‰ Replace screen time with calming activities like reading, stretching, or breathing exercises
πŸ‘‰ Create a consistent wind-down routine to signal that it's time to rest

Small changes to your evening routine can support better sleep quality and help you wake up feeling more refreshed.

As we prepare for an exciting new chapter, we're expanding our focus to make mental health care more accessible, convenient, and patient-centered through telehealth.

On September 1, primary care services will end. Existing primary care patients should establish care with a new primary care provider for ongoing preventive and routine medical care.

The following services will continue:
πŸ‘‰ Psychiatry services continue through telehealth.
πŸ‘‰ Medication management remains available virtually.
πŸ‘‰ Therapy services continue through secure telehealth appointments.
πŸ‘‰ Our commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care remains unchanged.

By focusing on telehealth psychiatry, we can offer more evening and Saturday appointments and expand convenient access for working adults, parents, college students, military families, and rural patients across Texas and beyond.

⚠️ Primary care services will end on September 1. If you receive primary care with us, please schedule any needed appointments before the transition and establish care with a new primary care provider for ongoing preventive and routine care.

We're grateful to be part of your care and look forward to continuing to support your mental health through this next chapter.

β€œAnxiety is the dizziness of freedom.” β€” SΓΈren Kierkegaard πŸ’

Having choices and uncertainty can sometimes feel overwhelming. When the future is unknown, the possibilities ahead can bring both opportunity and anxiety.

While occasional anxiety is normal, persistent or overwhelming anxiety may benefit from support. Understanding where those feelings come from can be an important step toward managing them with more confidence.

One of the most common questions about telehealth is whether your information remains private.

The answer is yes. Telehealth appointments are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms designed to protect your personal health information. Your privacy and confidentiality are held to the same professional standards as during in-person visits.

Whether you're meeting with your provider for psychiatric care, medication management, or therapy, you can feel confident knowing your information is handled with care and respect.

If you’d like to learn more about how it works or whether it’s right for you, get in touch with our team today.

β€œRest is a form of resistance.” β€” Tricia Hersey 🌿

In a culture that often celebrates constant productivity, choosing to rest can be an intentional act of caring for your well-being. Rest is not a reward you have to earn. It is a basic human need that supports both your physical and mental health.

Making space to pause, recover, and recharge can help reduce stress, improve focus, and build resilience over time.

Wellness tip: try box breathing technique 🌿

Box breathing is a simple technique that uses a structured breathing pattern to help you slow down and bring more awareness to your breath.

By creating a steady rhythm of inhaling, holding, and exhaling, this practice may help your body shift out of a heightened stress response and encourage a sense of calm.

To try it:
πŸ‘‰ Inhale for 4 seconds
πŸ‘‰ Hold for 4 seconds
πŸ‘‰ Exhale for 4 seconds
πŸ‘‰ Hold for 4 seconds
πŸ‘‰ Repeat for a few minutes

Breathing exercises like box breathing can be a helpful tool during stressful moments, before a challenging task, or as part of a regular mindfulness routine.

Small wellness practices can make a meaningful difference when added consistently to your daily routine.

Exciting changes are on the way!

We're expanding telehealth to make care more convenient and accessible while focusing on evidence-based psychiatric care.

With this change, you'll benefit from:
βœ… Expanded appointment availability
βœ… Evening and Saturday appointments
βœ… Less travel time and greater convenience
βœ… Improved access for working adults, parents, college students, military families, and patients in rural communities

While the way we deliver care is evolving, our commitment to you is not. You'll continue to receive the same compassionate, patient-centered care through secure telehealth appointments.

⚠️ Primary care services will end on September 1. If you receive primary care with us, please schedule any needed appointments before the transition and establish care with a new primary care provider for ongoing preventive and routine care.

We're excited for what's ahead and look forward to continuing to support your mental health journey.

National Wellness Month is a great reminder that wellness is about more than eating well or staying active. It also includes caring for your mental and emotional health.

True wellness is built through small, consistent habits that support your overall well-being. While everyone's needs are different, a few simple practices can make a meaningful difference over time:

πŸ‘‰ Prioritize quality sleep whenever possible.
πŸ‘‰ Stay physically active in ways you enjoy.
πŸ‘‰ Make time to connect with supportive people.
πŸ‘‰ Take breaks to manage stress throughout the day.
πŸ‘‰ Check in with your mental health just as you would your physical health.

Wellness isn't about being perfect. It's about creating habits that help you feel healthier, more balanced, and better equipped to navigate everyday life.

This August, consider one small change you can make to support your well-being today.

Many people think quality health care requires an in-person psychiatrist visit. In reality, many psychiatric evaluations, medication management appointments, and therapy sessions can be provided effectively through secure telehealth.

Telehealth offers the same evidence-based care in a more convenient format, making it easier for many patients to stay connected with their provider while reducing travel time and increasing flexibility.

Whether you're managing an ongoing condition or seeking support for the first time, virtual care can be an effective option for many mental health needs.

If you’d like to learn more about how it works or whether it’s right for you, get in touch with our team today.
