Today was one of those days that never loses its meaning.

It was an honor to help cloak the newest members of the Drexel College of Medicine Class of 2030 as they received their white coats.

With more than 18,000 applications, just 305 students earned the privilege of beginning this journey. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication brought them to this moment, and it was a privilege to share it with them.

It was also special to share the day with my husband Asif Ai a fellow Drexel alum as we both had the opportunity to cloak students.

And one unexpected full-circle moment: seeing my son’s former grade school classmate begin medical school. She went from being a The Shipley School Gator 🐊 to a Drexel Dragon 🐉!

Congratulations to the Class of 2030.

May you always wear your white coat with humility, compassion, and curiosity.

Today we celebrated the culmination of the 2026 Drexel Department of Dermatology Summer Research Program with our annual Summer Research Symposium.

Following more than 1,200 applications, this year’s program expanded from 25 to 90 students, bringing together high school, undergraduate, and medical students to collaborate on meaningful dermatology research.
In just four weeks, students designed studies, analyzed data, and presented projects addressing timely questions in dermatology, public health, consumer health, and medical education. Their work has already resulted in manuscripts in preparation, conference submissions, and a research grant application.

Thank you to our incredible students, project leaders, research fellow and collaborators for making this year’s symposium such a success.

Congratulations to all on an outstanding summer- we can’t wait to see where your research journeys take you next.

One of my favorite parts of writing No-Nonsense Skincare has been the conversations it has started.

I recently had the pleasure of joining Catriona on the My Health Focus podcast to talk about why I wrote No-Nonsense Skincare and what I’ve learned after more than 20 years of helping patients navigate the often overwhelming world of skincare.

A wonderful afternoon discussing men’s skin health with Dr. Farah Roomi. Farah Roomi

One of the most rewarding parts of these book events is hearing the conversation shift from skincare as appearance to skincare as health.

Men were sharing their routines, asking thoughtful questions, and even leaving inspired to make daily sun protection part of their routine.

That’s exactly why I wrote No-Nonsense Skincare: to help people see their skin through a new lens.

May flew by, and I never had the chance to share a few more highlights from an incredible month.

I’m proud of my Drexcel students. This is a group of Drexel medical students and Drexel undergraduate biomedical engineering students work with me every year to create a device to help support dermatology. This year they partnered to develop an innovative device that measures the power output of at-home red light therapy devices, helping consumers determine whether they are truly getting the performance they paid for.

We were also honored to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Farma as the speaker for the Philadelphia Dermatological Society summer meeting. His expertise and insights into the evolving treatment and management of advanced melanoma are invaluable as we continue to improve care for our patients.

I’m deeply grateful to have been named a Top Doctor in Dermatology by . Thank you to my colleagues and patient for your trust and support.

Finally, congratulations to my medical students and research fellows, .cafritz & ,on the publication of our original research in this month’s Cutis, examining how tinted and non-tinted sunscreens compare in protecting against visible and UV light.

So thankful for the opportunity to teach, learn, collaborate, and contribute alongside such talented students, colleagues, and mentors.

Excited for my next private book event centered around something I care deeply about: bringing clarity to skincare.

I’ll be joining Dr. Saba Khan—Pediatrician, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania—for a conversation around No-Nonsense Skincare and why simplifying routines has become more important than ever.

We’ll be diving into my Cleanse, Correct, Protect framework and bringing the book to life through a live Keep or Cutsegment—where we review real skincare products (yes, actual products people own) and decide what to keep, cut, or bench based on evidence—not marketing.

Because healthier skin shouldn’t require more products, more confusion, or more pressure to buy.

Guests will also enjoy light bites, skincare samples, giveaways, and a book signing.
