Today is Emergency Department Nurses Day! As part of the celebration, meet Cierra, RN, a nurse in the KRMC Emergency Department (ED). Cierra has worked in the ED for six years after spending her first year in the hospital’s Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Originally from California, Cierra moved to Kingman when she was 15 years old and graduated from Kingman High School. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse, although she did not fully understand what nurses did. She just knew that she wanted to help people, which led her to the Mohave College nursing program. While attending nursing classes, she also earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credentials and worked at an Alzheimer’s and Dementia facility. There, she saw firsthand the difference nurses make in patients’ lives—and knew she had chosen the right path. After graduating in 2019, Cierra joined KRMC and eventually made her way to the ED where she quickly became hooked and the ED has been her home ever since. Cierra said working in the ED is her favorite because she enjoys that every day brings something new, she loves her co-workers and finds the fast pace challenging. She may even be inspiring the next generation as her six-year-old daughter already says she wants to be a nurse when she grows up, just like mom.

This week, KRMC and Morrison Healthcare—our hospital’s Nutrition Services partner—are celebrating the People Behind the Plate during National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week! KRMC Nutrition Services invited team members to share recipes that are special to them, and Nutrition Services is giving each dish—and the person behind it—the spotlight. Along with each recipe, guests can learn about the team member’s role, how long they’ve been part of the KRMC family, and the story that makes their dish meaningful.

Monday’s features:
Aryanna’s Cajun Pasta — Aryanna has worked as a KRMC cashier for four years. She shared the first one-pot dish she learned to make after moving out on her own. Shauna’s Swedish Meatballs — Shauna has worked in the KRMC call center for 19 years. She paired a special sauce recipe with meatballs and noodles to create a Thanksgiving family favorite.

October Birthdays Are Worth Celebrating!

Games, trivia, great food, and an hour of birthday fun made for a wonderful celebration with our KRMC October birthday crew! We enjoyed spending lunch together and recognizing the amazing team members celebrating birthdays this month. Meet Annie Goodey, RN, BSN, a nurse navigator at KRMC’s Mountain Shadow Family Medicine Clinic. A nurse navigator is a clinical expert who helps guide patients and families through the care process upon discharge from the hospital or following clinical appointments. Annie has worked at KRMC for 12 years, including six years at Mountain Shadow. Initially, Annie started as a per diem nurse at KRMC and eventually transitioned to a full-time role. Although Annie has also worked at KRMC in Employee Health and the Medical/Surgical Unit, she says being a clinic nurse navigator is her favorite role because of the ability to develop long-term connections with patients and finds it rewarding to help them with their personal health goals. Annie grew up in Kingman and attended Kingman High School. She then graduated from the Mohave College nursing program before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Canyon University in 2012. Outside of work, Annie remains busy with her three kids, mostly attending sports activities and tournaments. She may not coach any of her kids’ athletic teams but enjoys “coaching” patients toward their best possible health. Thank you, Annie, for your dedication to KRMC and our patients!
