Meet Harrell: A fifth-generation Texan with deep roots in South and Southeast Texas, Certified Celebrant Doug DuBois Jr. carries the values of honesty, integrity, and respect into everything he does. After a long career in association management and government relations, Doug felt called to serve families in their darkest hours. He became a licensed funeral director and worked with us for seven years before transitioning to his current role as a certified celebrant.

In this role, Doug focuses on crafting personalized ceremonies that honor the unique life of each loved one. Whether reflecting religious or non-religious beliefs, he brings together family and friends to celebrate passions, accomplishments, and the lasting impact of those we've lost.

Outside of work, Doug volunteers with the Texas Youth Hunting Program and as a Texas Parks & Wildlife Hunter Education Instructor. He loves the outdoors and exploring the natural world.

Hospice Professionals: Join Us for an Upcoming Continuing Education Workshop!

Harrell Funeral Home invites hospice care professionals and volunteers to join us for “Grief, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Dementia: Considerations for Professional Caregiving,” presented by William G. Hoy.

This workshop will explore how normal bereavement responses can be complicated by dementia, provide a framework for supporting individuals with dementia as they experience their own losses, and offer supportive interventions for families of residents with dementia.

✨ 2.0 hours of continuing education credit will be available for social workers, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, and many other professions.

Join us for this week’s GriefShare gathering, “Loneliness & Sadness,” as we explore life after loss and the emotions that can come with it. We’ll discuss how sadness can help us recognize where we’re struggling, how it can lessen as we adjust to changes in our lives, and how meaningful connections can help ease loneliness.
