Billy Joe Gilliam

Billy Joe Gilliam, 76, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories they will forever hold close.

Billy was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Not long after high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Cassidy, beginning a life together that would span 27 years and bring them the family that meant so much to him.

Billy proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam era. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany, where he drove an armored personnel carrier. After returning home, Billy settled back into the community he had always known and began building a life centered around hard work and family.

For more than 30 years, Billy worked as a metal worker for Johnson-Hilliard before retiring at the age of 65. He was good with his hands and was rarely afraid to take something apart to see if he could get it working again. Lawn mowers, w**d eaters, and anything else that needed a little tinkering were right up his alley. He also loved going to flea markets and yard sales, never knowing what treasure, bargain, or next project he might come across.

But more than anything Billy did for a living, or any hobby he enjoyed, his family will remember him for simply being Dad and Papaw.

Billy was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family deeply, and they loved him just as fiercely in return. To his children, he was the father they could count on. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was Papaw a familiar face, a steady presence, and someone whose place in their lives can never truly be filled. The ordinary moments they shared with him over the years have now become some of their most treasured memories.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years and high school sweetheart, Audrey Cassidy Gilliam; his parents, Bill and Dora Ramey Gilliam; sisters, Helen, Joann, Mandy, and Barbara; and brothers, Charles and Ralph.

Those left to cherish Billy's memory include his children, Kristy Leonard and husband Charles, Tony Gilliam and wife Samantha, and Heather Gilliam; grandchildren, Charles and Chris Leonard, and Caleb and Macie Gilliam; great-grandchildren, Josiah and Olivia Leonard; brother, Jackie Gilliam and wife Jilda; sister, Mary Simpson; life partner, Vicki Siegler; Vicki's children, Victoria Castle, Alicia Cassidy, and Dylan Killen; along with extended family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Billy's family will miss him more than words can adequately express. They are grateful for the years they were given with him, for the lessons and laughter, and most of all, for the privilege of calling him Dad, Papaw, and family. His life was well loved, and that love will continue through the generations that follow him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Angela Woods, 57, of Church Hill, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

She was a retired cosmetologist and mother of two sons.

Angela was preceded in passing by her father, Frank Leon Barrett, and sister, Cynthia Dawn Barrett.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Joshua Woods and Michael Woods; mother, Arvelda Barrett; and brothers, Timothy Barrett and Kenneth Barrett.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 309 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Church Hill, Tennessee 37642, on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 2pm until 4pm. Timothy Barrett will be officiating.

Edgar Marshall Presley Sr, 73, of Church Hill, TN, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Edd retired after many years of service from Holliston Mills, where he was a proud member and steward for Teamsters Local 549. Never one to pass up a good time, he could often be found enjoying life whether it be on horseback, atop a motorcycle, or taking a spin in a fast car. He loved spending time in nature, especially camping or bike week at the beach, and was never seen without a cup of coffee in his hand. He loved his pets, past and present, which included everything from dogs to dragons.

Edd was preceded in death by his loving parents, Lucian and Mary Presley, brother Bill Robinson, sisters Ruth Drinnon and Linda Cooper, daughter-in-law Sarah Presley, and numerous friends and loved ones.

Left to share unbelievable but true stories about Edd's life are his son Eddy Presley, daughter Melynda (Terry) Honaker, grandchildren Jayden (Jacob) Hamilton, Nathan (Alexis) Honaker, Rylee (TJ) Hamilton, great grandchildren Michael, Phoenix, Daisy, and Ivy, sisters Carol Salyer, Jeanette (Sturm) Lawson, a host of nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, numerous other people that lovingly called him "Uncle Edd", and his long time friend and partner in crime Monty Gibson.

A celebration of life is currently being planned for September 26, 2026. Details will be made public as they are finalized.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer you to donate to your local animal rescue or St. Jude Children's Hospital in our Dad's honor.

Larry Lee Williams went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 30th, 2026. He was born September 4th, 1960, in Salina, Kansas to the late Kelly Jackson Williams and Audrey Ferguson Williams.

He was a graduate of Chilhowie High School and the Police Academy in Lebanon, Virginia. He worked as a police officer and as a disc jockey for radio stations which included WOLD in Marion, Virginia, WXBQ in Bristol, Virginia, and WQUT in the Tri-Cities. He most recently served as a security guard until his health declined.

He was a member of the Army National Guard for six years, and received a Combat Vehicle Transition Training Team Certificate while stationed in Boise, Idaho.

Larry was saved at a young age, and attended several area Baptist churches while his health permitted. He often assisted with the sound systems when he was able. Even as his health declined, he always spoke about the Lord to whomever he met.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Garry Williams.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Emily V. Williams; and his brothers, Kelly "Jack" Williams and Philip Williams.

Interment will be at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN on Friday, September 4th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M.

The family wishes to thank The Waters of Bristol and Gentiva Hospice for their attention and care of Larry.

Susan Alice Libby, 70, of Chuckey, Tennessee, was called home to be with our Lord. Born on April 23, 1956, Sue was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy, Class of 1974. She went on to pursue her passion for caring for others, earning her nursing degree from South Florida Community College in Avon Park, Florida. Sue dedicated many years of her life to nursing, where her compassion and commitment to helping others touched countless lives.

Outside of her career, Sue found joy in the simple things. She loved crafting, traveling, camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors. In fact, there were very few people who could ever out-fish Sue. She cherished the adventures that came with exploring new places and being surrounded by nature, which she saw at greater depths than most through the lens of a camera. Her love of photography was evident in every picture, especially those capturing rainbows and birds. Sue also adored animals, particularly dogs, and held a special place in her heart for her beloved black lab, Karrabash.

Sue is survived by her siblings: Stephen E. Libby II, Sherryl L. Albert (Rick), and Scott S. Libby (Ursula Smart), all of Lincoln, Maine; and Sandra L. Libby of Sebring, Florida. She is also survived by a large, adoring circle of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Sue rejoining her parents, Stephen Earle Libby and Nancy Deemer Libby, as well as her sister-in-law, Lisa Marie Libby. Sue will be remembered for her dedication to caring for others, her love of adventure, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Ferguson

Shirley Ann Ferguson, 86, of Blountville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

It is with heartfelt love that we remember a remarkable woman whose life was woven with faith, family, service, and love. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, nurse, reverend, and friend. Above all, she loved God, her family, and the people whose lives she touched.

She was the daughter of Coy Rufus Barker and Ruby May Morgan. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and late husband Ibrahim Salama, siblings Robert Barker, Betty White, and Margaret Ferguson. She is survived by her siblings Coy Barker Jr., Gerald Barker, Mary Rhoton, and David Barker.

She shared her life with her beloved husband, George Andrew Ferguson I for 47 years and together they built a family that became one of her greatest joys. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ayad and Hazel Salama of Kingsport, TN, Elaine and Mark Boggs of Kingsport, TN and Andy and Heather Ferguson of Weber City, VA as well as her 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who brought additional joy and love to her life.

She earned an associate degree in nursing and dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a nurse and serving others as a reverend. Her faith was an important part of who she was. She attended Gate City United Pentecostal Church and was involved in the Tabitha Ministry, where her heart for helping others could shine.

She found joy in the simple and beautiful things of life. She loved sewing, quilting, reading, Scrabble, crossword puzzles, birdwatching, and flowers. A master seamstress, she had a gift for creating beauty with her hands. She also enjoyed being part of the Crochet Club and the Farmers Market.

One of the sayings that reflected her remarkable ability and determination was, "If you can make one, you can make one thousand." Those words spoke not only to her talent as a seamstress and crafter, but also to the generous spirit she carried throughout her life.

She was, in many ways, like a beautiful quilt with impeccable stitching that covered everyone she knew and loved. Each person in her life was a different thread-unique and precious-and she had a way of bringing people together, surrounding them with warmth, faith, kindness, and love. The patterns she created through a lifetime of caring will remain long after her passing.

Her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the people she served, the faith she shared, and the countless lives made warmer because she was part of them.

Graveside Service will be held at Hamlet Dobson Memorial Gardens (across from the airport) on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Though Shirley will be deeply missed, the love she stitched into the lives of those around her will never unravel. Her memory will remain a treasured part of the beautiful quilt of her family, her faith, and her community.

It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Ricky Dean Davis, 66, of Mount Carmel, TN, who left us peacefully on August 25, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. After facing his illness with strength and determination, Rick has finally found eternal peace.

To know Rick was to know true love. He was a man whose signature humor and warm smile could light up a room, and he had a special way of making those around him feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Even during the darkest days of his illness, Rick never allowed cancer to take away the qualities that made him who he was. His strength went far beyond the physical, and he showed those around him that while cancer may take a toll on the body, it could never take away a person's spirit, faith, or capacity to love.

Above all, Rick cherished his family and the relationships he built throughout his life. The love he shared with them will continue through the countless memories they made together and the lessons he left behind. His laughter, kindness, sense of humor, and ability to make others feel loved will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Melanie Davis, and his oldest daughter, Veronica Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim McMurray, and son-in-law, Daniel McMurray; his grandchildren, Camryn, Madison, and Alana McMurray; his son, Jonathan Davis; his daughter, Jenny Counts and her life partner, BJ Counts, and their children, Makayla Stitler and Bradley Counts; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Though Rick's battle with cancer has ended, the love he gave so freely will remain with his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Juanita Kay Begley, 65, of Kingsport, TN, relocated to Heaven on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Kay was born on October 10, 1960. She was a faithful woman who loved her Lord and Savior and cherished the time she spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kay enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She loved Avon and looked forward to her Dairy Queen coffee every day. She was also an animal lover, especially when it came to her beloved fur babies, who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley & Lilly Bell Williams; and her sister, Barbara Derrick.

Those left to cherish Kay's memory are son, Tim (Amy) Begley; her grandchildren, Damien Snodgrass, Kaylee Begley-Sparks, Emily Messer, Dante Meadows, Hunter DeZarn, Ashlee Lewis; her sister, Brenda (Tony) Stidham; several nieces and nephews; as well as her special friend, Heath Hillman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Tabernacle of Praise, 2055 Grandby Rd., Kingsport, TN 37665. Receiving of friends is 5:00-7:00 P.M., with service to follow. Pastor Jackie Flanary is officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to take care of Kay's final expenses. The family sends a special thank you to Tabernacle of Praise & Stoney Creek Fellowship of Ft. Blackmore, VA.
