🐾 They're back!

Celebrate 10 years of the Penn State Health Facility Dog Program with our new limited-edition T-shirt fundraiser!

This year's design honors every facility dog that's been part of the program since 2016 — Kaia, Becky, Pilot, Captain, Skye, Thor, Baron, Ursa and Yona.

Last year, nearly 1,400 supporters from across the country — including employees, patients, families and facility dog fans — purchased shirts to support the program. We hope you'll join us again as we celebrate this special milestone.

Every purchase helps support the Facility Dog Program by funding supplies, grooming and other program expenses that allow our dogs to continue providing comfort, companionship and healing to patients, families and care teams.

🐶 The fundraiser is open to everyone.
📦 Shirts ship directly to your home.

A tick bite left Brittani Snyder unable to move one side of her face.

After initially being diagnosed with Bell's palsy, doctors discovered Lyme disease had damaged her facial nerve. As her nerves healed, they became miswired, causing facial synkinesis — a chronic condition that can lead to involuntary facial movements, muscle tightness and an uneven smile.

At Penn State Health's Facial Nerve Clinic, a personalized treatment plan that includes Botox® injections and specialized facial nerve therapy has helped Brittani regain function, improve her facial symmetry and rebuild her confidence.

Following the recent death of Senator Lindsey Graham from an aortic dissection, many people are asking: What is an aortic dissection?

Penn State Health cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Abdul Elnaggar recently spoke with Everyday Health to help answer that question and explain why this rare condition is considered a medical emergency.

"An aortic dissection starts closer to the heart, but that tear can travel throughout the entire length of the aorta," Dr. Elnaggar said.

Warning signs may include:
❤️ Sudden, severe chest or upper back pain
😮‍💨 Shortness of breath
😵 Fainting
🧠 Stroke-like symptoms

If you or someone you know experiences these symptoms, call 911 immediately. Prompt diagnosis and treatment can be lifesaving.

🚗☀️ It only takes minutes for a vehicle to become dangerously hot, especially for young children.

Children are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses because their bodies heat up faster than adults, making summer safety more important than ever.

In this video, Amy Bollinger, education outreach and injury prevention trauma coordinator at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, explains the warning signs of heat stroke, why children are at greater risk and simple steps parents and caregivers can take to prevent a life-threatening emergency.

Remember: Look before you lock, and never leave a child alone in a vehicle — not even for a minute. 💙
