Today August 31, we observe International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD)—a global campaign dedicated to ending overdose and honoring those we have lost. On Saturday we attended the 9th annual Overdose Awareness Candlelight Vigil, hosted by Jeremy’s Journey. We were honored to host a resource table, connecting with community members to share critical information on substance use and mental health support, and to distribute life-saving Narcan directly to those in need.

Seeing neighbors, families, and advocates gather in solidarity to honor those we have lost was a powerful testament to the strength of this community. It is a reminder that while we mourn, we also act—by reducing stigma, expanding access to care, and standing alongside every person on their recovery journey.

Thank you to Jeremy’s Journey for organizing this meaningful event, and to everyone who showed up to remember, support, and advocate for change. Together, we are making a difference.

🎉 Last Friday, our CEO Lynn Brown, Admissions Manager Shawn Carroll, and Community Partnerships Manager Kate Favata took a trip to Scranton Counseling Center to check out their Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Unit (CRSU).

A big thank you to Melanie Galli and Karissa Hall for the wonderful tour, and to Gina Paglianite for the great conversation! 🙌

Did you know the CRSU is a 24/7 walk-in center right at 329 Cherry Street? It has 8 beds and offers a safe, less restrictive space for individuals in crisis who need immediate support but don't quite require a hospital stay. The team helps connect people to local services so they can get back on their feet in the community.

We are so fortunate to have this invaluable resource in our community. Thank you to all the staff at Scranton Counseling for everything you do for our neighbors! 💙

Wednesday was a beautiful day at Courthouse Square in Scranton. This week marks Overdose Awareness Week. It is an annual observance dedicated to remembering lives lost to drug overdoses, supporting grieving families, and promoting education on overdose prevention. Thanks to Geisinger for handing out Narcan, test strips, and holding this lifesaving event in Scranton, Pa. Great to see our community partners show up for this important cause, Beyond Addiction, Pyramid Healthcare,Steps to Recovery, MFHS, Free2BMom, Clearvision Health and Wellness, and Haven Behavioral Hospital . It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in Scranton coming together to support this important cause.

Whether you have been personally affected by addiction or just want to support your neighbors, it was a day to remember that we are stronger together. Let’s continue to spread hope and awareness in our community.

We recently had the pleasure of attending the Health Fair & Open House at Dunmore Comprehensive Treatment Centers. It was an inspiring day dedicated to celebrating a significant milestone—14 years of service to our community.

It was fantastic to connect with the dedicated Dunmore team and network with fellow community partners. The energy was high, featuring great music from a local DJ, exciting raffle giveaways, and, most importantly, meaningful conversations about the services they provide.

Thank you to the entire Dunmore team for your continued dedication to health and wellness. Here’s to another year of making a difference!

We had a wonderful time at National Night Out in Forty Fort last week! 🚒👮‍♂️

It was the perfect evening to enjoy the summer and connect with our amazing neighbors. We loved chatting with so many of you about the mental health services we offer and connecting you with other great resources available right here in our community.

We also had some great conversations with local leaders and first responders about the importance of prioritizing mental wellness for everyone. A huge thank you to Forty Fort Borough for inviting us to set up a resource table—we truly appreciate being part of such a special event! 💙

We were honored to welcome Denise Williams,Brittany Stephenson, and Dawn Simmons, from The Luzerne County Council for a tour and an open conversation with our CEO Lynn Brown and team members about how Opioid Settlement grant funding is making a real difference right here in our community.

It was such a pleasure to connect with local leaders who genuinely care about the well-being of our neighbors. We walked them through the progress we've made, shared how these investments are improving our facility and patient services, and gave them a sneak peek at some of the exciting projects we currently have underway.

We are so thankful for the Council for their visit and dedication to finding real solutions for those impacted by Opioid Use Disorder. Their support helps us turn hope into healing.

Together, we truly can build a stronger, healthier Luzerne County—one life at a time. 💙

We are so happy to share some wonderful news! 🙏 We recently had the privilege of meeting with such a caring and dedicated group from Dorranceton United Methodist Church to officially kick off spiritual services for our patients.

We truly believe that healing isn't just physical—it's emotional and spiritual, too. Having compassionate faith leaders to offer services can make all the difference during tough times, and we are honored to offer this extra layer of comfort and support to those we serve.A special thank you to Reverend Tom Swingle, Barbara Swingle, and Rev Jane Pykus (Church of Christ Uniting) United Methodist Church for their partnership and to Lynn Brown our CEO for her leadership and unwavering dedication to whole-person care, which brought this initiative to life. We are so grateful for this community! 💙

What a fantastic day last week at the 2026 Pennsylvania Latino Health Summit! 🎉 We loved being an exhibitor at Mohegan Pennsylvania in Plains Township.

This was the 6th annual summit and the first time it's come to NEPA! The theme, "Finding Our Way Forward In Unpredictable Times," brought together hundreds of passionate people, including state leaders like DHS Secretary Dr. Valerie Arkoosh and Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen, plus top doctors and community advocates.

For us at Wyoming Valley Behavioral Health, the best part was networking and learning alongside our partners in healthcare, government, education, and local community organizations. A special highlight was connecting with our Latino community—we are committed to serving you and proudly welcome Spanish-speaking patients. ❤️

A huge shoutout to Jefferson Health for sponsoring this inspiring event. We're already looking forward to next year!
