What side of the tree do you want to be?

It’s a simple question.
But it reveals something deeper.

Because nobody looks at the dead side of the tree and says,
“Yeah… that’s the goal.”

We all want to be the side that’s alive.
Strong.
Growing.
Able to withstand the storms of life.

And yet our culture keeps telling us that breakdown is normal.
That losing energy, function, resilience, and strength is just part of getting older.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Health is not about luck.
It’s about what you build.

Yes, good lifestyle choices matter.
That part is obvious.

But there’s another piece people often miss:

You must have a healthy spine and nervous system.
It’s foundational.

Because just like the trunk and roots of a tree,
if the foundation isn’t solid, growth cannot be sustained.

You can only paint green leaves on dead wood for so long.

Eventually, the storms come.

And when they do,
one side remains standing in the morning…
and the other becomes kindling.

That’s the difference.

Health is not about avoidance.
It’s not about chasing symptoms.
It’s about building something that will stand.

Not just for you—
but for the people you love.

So I’ll ask you the same question we ask in our office every day:

What side of the tree do you want to be?

What if your health problem was never A, B, C, or D…

…but actually Z?

One of the shortcomings of professional training—whether in chiropractic school or medical school—is that doctors are trained to become very good at taking multiple choice tests.

And sure, from an administrative standpoint, that makes sense.

Multiple choice tests are efficient.
They standardize easily.
They automate a tedious but necessary task.

But over the past 30 years, I’ve seen something troubling happen in healthcare:

The doctor-patient relationship has been slowly eroded.

Something that was once sacred has too often been commoditized.

Corporate systems have swallowed up private practice.
Insurance companies have inserted themselves between doctor and patient.
And care has been restructured around efficiency, automation, and standardization.

In other words… it starts to feel a lot like a multiple choice test.

But here’s the problem:

You are not a multiple choice test.

You are more complex than A, B, C, or D.

Yes, you share patterns with others.
Of course you do.
That’s part of how experience works.

You’re counting on the fact that I’ve seen cases before, solved problems before, and helped people with similar challenges before.

But at the same time…

You are not them.

You have a story.
You have a starting point.
You have responsibilities, goals, limitations, and dreams.

And all of that matters.

At Anchor Chiropractic, we take that into account.

Yes, I’m an expert in what I do.
But I also recognize that you are an expert in you.

You live in your body.
You gather data every day.
And when you learn how to better read your body’s clues and cues, something powerful happens:

Your lived experience and my clinical experience can come together.

And when that happens, we can problem-solve in real time—collaboratively.

That’s often where the real answers are found.

Because what if the answer was never A, B, C, or D…

but actually Z?

Maybe today is the day that you make that fill the water bottle one more time, take a extra lap around the neighborhood, get to bed on time, or schedule that first adjustment? We're here to help.

Each morning is a new opportunity to choose health over disease, vitality over survival, and strength over weakness.
It won't happen all at once. Just take it one day at a time.

Your body is designed to ADAPT to life's stresses. Sometimes throwing a new stress onto it (like a new exercise regimen) can reveal weaknesses or problems where there should be strength and stability. Chiropractic exists to address these deficiencies before they become problems.

There is a health care hierarchy.

And whether people can explain it or not, those who age well tend to live by it.

Here it is:

Self Care first.
Health Care second.
Crisis Care last, if and when needed.

Self care is doing the things you know you need to do for your health that no one else can do for you.

No one is going to chew your broccoli for you.
No one is going to take your walk for you.
No one is going to stretch for you.
No one is going to brush your teeth for you.

Health care is doing the things you know you need to do for your health that you cannot do for yourself.

You can brush your teeth…
but you can’t give yourself a thorough dental cleaning.

You can stretch…
but you can’t give yourself a chiropractic adjustment.

And then there’s crisis care.

Crisis care has its place.
I’m glad it’s there when truly needed.

But it was never meant to be the foundation of health.

The problem is that too many people live by a different hierarchy:

Do nothing.
Wait until it breaks.
Then seek crisis care.

That’s the health care hierarchy of the nursing home generation.

And then?
Rinse and repeat.

It’s time for us to think differently.

It’s time for us to build health on purpose.

And maybe most of all…

It’s time for us to redefine what “broke” means.

Hey y'all! Logan here!

I am halfway through my final quarter pounding out my last round of midterms and wanted to take a second to update you all on how I'm holding up. In case you haven't been following, I am halfway through my second-to-last quarter—about 20 weeks away from graduating.
Stuff I'm learning this quarter:
--More advanced adjusting techniques and modifications for adjusting pregnant moms, babies, and children.
--A technique that is focused on making global changes to the spine to correct poor posture (it's pretty fascinating and I want to explore it more in the future!)
--How to build a chiropractic practice from the ground up (about 25-30% of my classmates are graduating directly into a business that they're building right now).
--How to document and bill appropriately to stay licensed and legal
--How to shoot on 35mm film for the *aesthetics* (just kidding. They're not teaching me this in school. This is just something I picked up on my own a few months ago. I hope you enjoy the picture).

I am also happy to report that I have been accepted by a PEAK office in Florida which will provide the final capstone for my clinical training at Life University. This is an internship that will run from July to September. I will be fulfilling the remainder of my clinic requirements while assisting a doctor in practice. I'm sad to be saying goodbye to Georgia but I'm excited for the next chapter to begin!

I've got to get back to studying. My last remaining national board exam is this Sunday (Part IV!). 134 days until I walk that platform. Stay adjusted!
