🎆 Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

Fireworks are a fun way to celebrate, but safety should always come first. Keep these tips in mind:

✨ Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
✨ Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
✨ Light only one firework at a time and step back quickly.
✨ Never relight a "dud" firework.
✨ Keep a safe distance from active fireworks.
✨ Never point or throw fireworks at people, animals, or buildings.
✨ Save the alcohol until after you're finished using fireworks.
✨ Soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away.

🎇 The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public display!

💙🦋 July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month 🦋💙

When people hear the word "arthritis," they often think of older adults—but arthritis can affect children, too.

Nearly 300,000 children in the United States are living with juvenile arthritis, an autoimmune disease that can cause joint pain, swelling, stiffness, fatigue, and even eye inflammation. While there is no cure, early diagnosis and treatment can help children stay active and live full, healthy lives.

This month, let's raise awareness, support children and families affected by juvenile arthritis, and remind them they are not alone.

☀️ Extreme Heat This Week ☀️

Dangerously hot temperatures and heat index values are expected across our area this week. Please take extra precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings when possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
⏰ Limit outdoor activities to the early morning or evening.
👶 Check on children, older adults, neighbors, and anyone without reliable cooling.
🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

🧊 Need a place to cool off? Our health department, along with the Caldwell County Library, and Caldwell County Nutrition Center is open as a Cooling Center during normal business hours. If you or someone you know needs relief from the heat, stop by and cool down in a safe, air-conditioned environment.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone is experiencing confusion, loss of consciousness, or has a very high body temperature, call 911 immediately.
