Leonard “Len” Dawson, 73, of Harriman, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Methodist Medical Center. He was born August 29, 1952. Len was a retired carpenter and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially bass fishing and watching spectator sports. He loved sports and enjoyed spending time with his family and those he held dear.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Cramer Dawson; his son, Robert Leedy and wife, Kristen, of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and husband, Jaxson, of Wilmington, Ohio, and Hannah Leedy of Lebanon, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Dawson and wife, Pamela, of Hamilton, Ohio, and Junior Dawson and wife, Rebekah, of Blanchester, Ohio; sisters, Kathy Compton and husband, Rick, of Wilmington, Ohio, and Bonnie Adae and husband, Ben, of Blanchester, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Roger Mills of Ten Mile and Mike Mills of Carlisle, Ohio; along with numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dora Dawson, and his brother, Richard Dawson. Len will be remembered for his love of fishing, sports, family, and the many memories he made throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside service will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2026 at Poplar Springs Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Roane County Honor Guard. Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston is honored to serve the family of Leonard “Len” Dawson.

Janice L. Underwood Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice Lee Underwood, who entered her Heavenly home on July 29, 2026, at the age of 79.

Janice was born on November 12, 1946, and was a lifelong resident of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She dedicated many years of service to the Oak Ridge School System, where she worked in the cafeteria at Robertsville Middle School. Janice was a faithful member of New Midway Baptist Church, where she loved her Lord, her church family, and the fellowship she shared with them. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in the love she showed to others every day. Above all else, Janice treasured her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world. She never missed a ballgame, school event, birthday, holiday, or special occasion if she could help it. Being "Mamaw" and “Gandmaw” was the greatest joy of her life, and she poured her heart into those she loved. She also had a special love for her dogs and cats. She loved to shop. She had a wonderful sense of style and carried herself with grace, beauty and confidence every time she left her house. She had a smile that could brighten any room. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

Janice is survived by her loving son, Greg Underwood and wife, Star Underwood; daughters, Stacie Slayton and husband, Victor Slayton, and Shannon Garrett and husband, Steve Garrett. She was the proud Mamaw of Jessica Collins and husband, Curtis Collins; JT Underwood; Blake Garrett; Corey Hrynda and fiancé Tabby McLendon; and Tyler Garrett. Her greatest joys continued with her precious great-grandchildren: Lynlee Collins, Harper Underwood, Layne Hrynda, and Landrey Collins, each of whom held a very special place in her heart. She loved being their “Gandmaw” and spending time with them doing anything they wanted to do.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Gregg, mother, Ruby Corey, step-father, Harry Corey, and her beloved husband, Baxter Underwood, whom she loved dearly.

While our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with the love of her life. Janice leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, generosity, strength, and devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the family she poured herself into and the love she gave so freely will continue to surround those she leaves behind.

To know Janice was to love her. Her love was constant, her faith was steadfast, and her family was her greatest blessing. Though she will be missed beyond measure, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in our hearts forever.

Services will be held at New Midway Baptist Church on Thursday, August 6, 2026, receiving of friends will be from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM with funeral to follow with Rev. Rod Garrett officiating. The family will be having a private graveside.

Doris Trent, age 93, formerly of Kingston, Tennessee, passed away on July 14, 2026, in Howell, Michigan.

Born on August 17, 1933, in Loving, Georgia, Doris lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston and cherished worshipping there before moving to Michigan to be closer to her children.

Doris enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved reading, crocheting, traveling, and listening to gospel music. She also dedicated over 15 years of her career as a licensed beautician in Roane County, where she formed many lasting friendships through her work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Trent; son, Roger McDaniel and his wife, Valerie; her parents, Charles and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Jones; her brothers, Danny Carroll Jones and Charles W. Jones and his wife, Mary; and her nieces, Rebecca Renkiewicz and Renee Jones.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Grant and husband, Mark, of Allen Park, Michigan; nephew, Mark Jones of Howell, Michigan; granddaughters, Kortney Grant of Southgate, Michigan, and Chelsea Revoir and husband, Christopher, of Allen Park, Michigan; grandson, R.J. McDaniel of Taylor, Michigan; great-granddaughters, Aubree Houck and Averie Houck, both of Taylor, Michigan, and Francine Revoir of Allen Park, Michigan; great-nieces, Megan Sredzinski and husband, Brandon, of Howell, Michigan, Ashley Tinner and husband, Andreas, of Switzerland, and Lauren Magrane and husband, Billy, of North Carolina; great-great-nephews, Cole, Brody, and Aiden Sredzinski of Howell, Michigan; along with a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Kingston Memorial Gardens in Kingston, Tennessee, with Pastor Rev. Randy Griffis officiating.
