I've had some time to calm down (and accept that I'm not dreaming) and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's been so patient with me and kind to me in light of my recent injury.
Many people have reached out expressing genuine concern, and to say I'm moved is an understatement. Taking care of people is the reason I exist, massage is so much more than a career for me, and I CAN NOT WAIT to get back to it.
To those who are concerned, my pain is extremely manageable and my break is minor. I actually had it looked at once a few days after it happened, the break was not visible on my first x ray, and I did about a week and a half of massage as usual before deciding to get checked again. The only time it hurt was on the small handful of areas where I'm not able to use my forearms or elbows, which you likely know are my primary and preferred massage tools. Since I've been in my splint, it hasn't hurt at all.
I will most likely be returning in November. I was given an 8 to 10 week recovery timeline, which puts me at a conservative November 12th return date. I'm really hopeful to return closer to the 8 week mark around Halloween, but I won't push it if it's not ready. I've paused booking until 11/12 to be safe.
Please understand that I am going to be a bit weak when I first return. I'm doing what I can to stay in shape until I'm ready to get back to work, but my work does a lot to keep me in shape. The last time I went as long as I'm going to go without doing a massage was during the COVID-19 lock downs in 2020. I remember having a small adjustment period when everything opened back up, only back then I was 23 years old and not injured 😅While I intend to return to work in November, a proper "return to form" may not come until a bit later.
Your kindness, understanding, and patience are what will get me through this phase of my life. I can't wait to take care of you all in a few months (I can't believe I'm looking forward to winter right now)
