Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices that made them possible, and the time spent celebrating with family, friends, and community.

Today we celebrate the birth of a nation and honor those who have helped preserve the freedoms we cherish. May we never take those blessings for granted. Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

“…Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.” (National Museum of African American History and Culture)

Today, we pause to pray for the families and friends of this who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Those who gave their lives to service to our country. We are the land of the free because of these brave men and women! We will forever honor their lives by always remembering them, especially on this Memorial Day!
