🍎🧼 Food Safety Education Month — Keep It Clean, Keep It Safe! 🧼🍎

Nobody wants a side of food poisoning with dinner! 🤢🍽️

During Food Safety Education Month, the Family Planning Team is reminding everyone that a few simple habits in the kitchen can help protect you and your family from foodborne illness.

Remember these food safety basics:

🧼 CLEAN — Wash your hands, countertops, utensils, and produce properly.
🥩 SEPARATE — Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs away from ready-to-eat foods.
🌡️ COOK — Use a food thermometer to make sure foods reach a safe internal temperature.
❄️ CHILL — Refrigerate perishable foods promptly and don't leave them sitting out too long.

Food safety is especially important for pregnant women, young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, who may be at greater risk of serious complications from foodborne illness.

And here's your friendly reminder: The sniff test isn't a food safety test! 👃😂 Food can sometimes make you sick even when it looks and smells perfectly normal.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we're committed to helping our community stay healthy—from preventive healthcare and wellness education to the everyday choices that help protect you and your family.

🍎 Clean. Separate. Cook. Chill. And when in doubt... throw it out!

Here's to healthy families, safe kitchens, and meals remembered for how GOOD they tasted—not for what happened afterward! 😉🍽️

💚 Lymphoma Awareness Day 💚

Today, the Family Planning Clinic joins others around the world in raising awareness about lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system—an important part of your body's immune system.

Knowing your body and recognizing when something isn't quite right can make a difference. ❤️

Some possible signs and symptoms of lymphoma may include:

💚 Painless swelling or lumps in the neck, armpit, or groin
💚 Unexplained fever
💚 Drenching night sweats
💚 Unexplained weight loss
💚 Persistent fatigue
💚 Itchy skin
💚 Shortness of breath or persistent cough

Having one of these symptoms doesn't necessarily mean you have lymphoma, but symptoms that are persistent, unexplained, or concerning should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we believe preventive healthcare starts with paying attention to your body. Keep up with your routine wellness visits, know your family health history, and don't ignore changes simply because you're busy taking care of everyone else.

🩺 Your health deserves your attention, too.

If something doesn't feel right, speak up and get it checked. Early evaluation can help identify health concerns and connect you with the appropriate care when needed.

From all of us at the Family Planning Clinic, let's spread knowledge, support those affected by lymphoma, and remind our community that awareness matters. 💚

💙👵 Happy Grandparents Day! 👴💙

Today, we celebrate the grandparents who fill our families with love, wisdom, stories, laughter, and maybe just a little extra spoiling! 😉❤️

Grandparents are often the heart of a family—the keepers of traditions, the source of advice (whether we asked for it or not 😂), and some of our biggest supporters throughout life.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we know healthy families span generations. Today is also a great reminder to our grandparents and those who love them: taking care of yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family.

🩺 Keep up with your preventive health screenings
❤️ Know your blood pressure and cholesterol
🎗️ Stay current with recommended cancer screenings
💉 Keep vaccinations up to date
🚶 Stay active and make time for the things you enjoy
😊 And don't forget to take care of your emotional health, too!

To all the grandparents, bonus grandparents, and special people who fill that role in someone's life—thank you for the love, lessons, hugs, and memories you give so freely.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, we wish you a very Happy Grandparents Day! 💙

And remember, grandparents: you've spent years taking care of everyone else. Make sure you're taking care of YOU, too! ❤️

❤️🤍💙 September 11 — We Will Never Forget ❤️🤍💙

Today, we pause to remember.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. We remember the first responders, healthcare workers, service members, volunteers, and everyday citizens who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also remember how, in the days that followed, people reached out to one another with kindness, generosity, and a shared sense of community.

May we honor those we lost not only by remembering their names and their stories, but also by carrying forward the spirit of compassion, service, courage, and caring for one another.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, our hearts are with the families who continue to carry the memories of their loved ones and with all whose lives were forever changed that day.

❤️ We remember.
🤍 We honor.
💙 We will never forget.

💛 World Su***de Prevention Day 💛

Today, the Family Planning Team joins communities around the world in reminding everyone of one important message:

Your life matters. Your story matters. And asking for help is okay. 💛

Mental health is part of our overall health. Sometimes the people who are struggling the most may not show it on the outside. A phone call, a text, a conversation, or simply asking, “Are you okay?” can open the door for someone who needs support.

Take time today to:
💛 Check in on the people you love
💛 Listen without judgment
💛 Take concerns about su***de seriously
💛 Encourage someone who is struggling to seek professional help
💛 Remind others that they don't have to face difficult moments alone

And don't forget to check in with yourself, too. Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate life-threatening emergency, call 911.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, let's continue building a community where it's okay to talk about mental health, okay to ask for help, and where we take care of one another. 💛

One conversation. One connection. One moment of kindness. It can make a difference.

💙🤝 International Day of Charity 🤝💙

Today is a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a BIG difference. ❤️

Charity isn't always about giving money. It can be giving your time, talents, compassion, encouragement, or simply lending a helping hand to someone who needs it.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we see the power of caring for others every day. We are grateful for the organizations, community partners, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and neighbors who work together to make our communities healthier and stronger.

You can make a difference today by:
💙 Checking on a neighbor
💙 Donating to a local organization
💙 Volunteering your time
💙 Supporting a family in need
💙 Sharing resources with someone who could use them
💙 Simply choosing kindness

Strong communities are built when we take care of one another—and sometimes the greatest gift we can give is letting someone know they matter.

From all of us at the Family Planning Team, thank you to everyone who gives their time, resources, talents, and hearts to make South Texas a better place to call home. 💙

Give when you can. Help where you can. Be kind whenever you can. 🤝❤️

💜 Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month 💜

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and the Family Planning Team is reminding women that knowing your body, recognizing changes, and keeping up with preventive healthcare can make a difference.

Gynecologic cancers include cancers of the cervix, ovaries, uterus/endometrium, va**na, and v***a. Symptoms can vary, so it's important to pay attention when something doesn't feel normal for YOU.

Talk with a healthcare provider if you experience persistent or unusual symptoms such as:

💜 Abnormal va**nal bleeding or discharge
💜 Pelvic pain or pressure
💜 Abdominal bloating or swelling
💜 Changes in bathroom habits
💜 Persistent itching, burning, pain, or changes to the v***a
💜 Pain during s*x

Don't ignore changes in your body or put off your preventive care.

At the Family Planning Clinic, we're proud to provide important women's health services, including cervical cancer screening and HPV testing when appropriate. Our Breast and Cervical Cancer Services Program is available at all of our clinic locations to help eligible women access important screening services.

💜 And don't forget about HPV vaccination! HPV vaccination can help prevent the types of HPV that cause most cervical cancers and several other cancers.

Early detection matters. Prevention matters. YOU matter. 💜

📞 Call your local Family Planning Clinic to schedule your well-woman visit or learn more about available screening services. Walk-ins are welcome!
