We often believe that if we understand the problem, we should automatically be able to change it.

If you've ever felt frustrated because change didn't come as quickly as you hoped, you're not alone.

Growth isn't measured by never struggling again. It's measured by becoming a little more aware, a little more compassionate with yourself, and a little more willing to take the next healthy step.

Healing isn't about perfection.

It's about progress.

Every small step matters.

One of the biggest misconceptions about healing is that if we understand the problem, the problem should disappear.

If only it were that simple.

Many people know exactly what they "should" do, yet still struggle to follow through.

Real change often requires more than insight. It involves creating the capacity for healthier coping, communication, connection, and lasting growth.

Understanding is powerful.

But understanding plus practice, safety, and support is often where transformation begins.

Sometimes healing happens when we step away from our daily routines and create space for growth, reflection, and connection.

Join us on an upcoming Caribbean cruise as we explore relationships, recovery, nervous system regulation, communication, healing, and thriving.

Expect practical tools, experiential learning, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to reconnect with yourself and others.

The workshops are included with your cruise experience.

We'd love to have you join us.

Feeling stuck doesn't always mean you don't know what to do.
Sometimes it means your nervous system is working overtime just trying to get through the day.
Many people know what they "should" do. They know the tools. They understand the advice. But they still find themselves stuck in the same patterns, doing the same thing or feeling disconnected from the life they want to live.
When we are living in survival mode, change can feel exhausting.
What if the problem isn't a lack of motivation or willpower?
What if your system has simply learned to protect you?
Healing often begins when we stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and start asking, "What happened, and what does my body-brain need now?"
Sometimes the path forward isn't trying harder.
It's creating enough safety to move differently.

Feeling alone isn't always about being by yourself.

Sometimes you can be surrounded by people and still feel disconnected.

Disconnected from yourself.
Disconnected from others.
Disconnected from the world around you.

When we've spent a long time in survival mode, connection can become difficult—even when we want it. We may withdraw, shut down, stay busy, avoid vulnerability, or struggle to communicate what we need.

One of the things I've learned through years of working with people is that healing is often less about trying harder and more about creating the safety needed for connection.

Connection with yourself.
Connection with others.
Connection with the world around you.

As we feel safer in ourselves, trust, communication, authenticity, and meaningful relationships often become more available.

These are some of the conversations we'll be exploring during Love That Works @ Sea with Saundra Dickinson, Kristi Brown, and Kathy Dickinson Gray.

Because thriving begins with connection.

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.

Sometimes overwhelm is a sign that your nervous system has been carrying too much, for too long.

When we are overwhelmed, we tend to become reactive, shut down, withdraw, overthink, people-please, or simply feel stuck. We may blame ourselves for not trying harder, when in reality our system is working hard just to get through the day.

Many unhealthy coping patterns began as protection.

When you understand what’s happening in your nervous system, it can open the door to healthier coping, better communication, stronger relationships, and more connection with yourself and others.

Healing doesn’t begin with perfection.

It begins with understanding.

“Many unhealthy coping patterns began as protection.
Healing begins when people learn healthier ways to cope, communicate, connect, and feeling safe again.”

05/13/2026

Sometimes people are not fighting about the dishes, the text message, or the tone.
They are fighting over deeper feelings:
“Do I matter?”
“Am I safe with you?”
“Do you hear me?”
“Will you stay connected to me?”
Many relationship struggles are rooted in stress, protection, past wounds, and disconnection — not lack of love.
Healing relationships involves learning healthier ways to communicate, regulate, repair, and reconnect.
Humans are wired for connection.
