Yesterday we celebrated Father’s Day through music & stories, and Don gave us one that made the room quiet to listen.

His father was part of West Point, the military academy established under Thomas Jefferson’s presidency. Don shared his father’s swords, each one engraved with his father’s initials, and as he held them, all we could think was: this is American history, sitting right here in our living room.
West Point’s mission has always been to educate, train, and inspire cadets to become leaders of character for the U.S. Army.
Don’s father lived that mission and today, his story lived on through his son.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who continue to inspire us every day. 🇺🇸

We celebrated Don the other day, he sang the whole time and kept everyone laughing, today it was Roger’s turn. Quieter, but just as sweet. He loved the food, he loved the atmosphere, and somewhere between the first and last bite you could just tell he felt it.
Here’s to many more, Roger. We’re happy to celebrate you!

This is how it looks like when one of your favorite people adds another year. Loud, warm, and full of happy memories.
Don sang the whole time, like the whole time.
Patty, his daughter was there, we were all around the table, cake and music were involved and somehow Don ended up being the entertainment. We wouldn’t have had it any other way. It took him a while to make his wish, he said he already has everything he needs.

This Memorial Day we wanted to do something small but meaningful for the veterans in our home. Flags on the table, a special meal, and a certificate of appreciation for each of them, because the men sitting in these chairs didn’t just live through history, they made it.

Talking to a parent about needing more care is one of the hardest things a family goes through. There’s guilt, there’s fear, and most of the time nobody really knows what to say or how to say it without turning it into an argument.
We’ve sat with a lot of families in that exact place, and the one thing we’ve learned is that how you have this conversation matters just as much as when.
