Pregnancy comes with SO many decisions — and sometimes it can feel like everyone has an opinion about what you should do.

But good care shouldn’t leave you feeling pressured, rushed, or afraid to ask questions.

One of my favorite parts of being a midwife is helping women understand their options, know what to expect, and feel prepared for the parts of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum that we sometimes don’t talk enough about.

You don’t need to have the “perfect” birth plan. You don’t need to predict exactly how your labor will unfold. And you definitely don’t have to know everything.

You deserve good information, thoughtful conversations, and a care team that helps you feel confident making decisions along the way.

And please — prepare for postpartum and feeding, too. ❤️ We spend so much time preparing for the birth, when birth is really just the beginning.

Birth matters. But so does how you’re cared for through all of it.

For some families, home is where they feel safest, most supported, and most able to give birth.

Your own bed. Your own shower. Your own food. Your own people.
No unfamiliar spaces. No unnecessary interruptions. No packing up during labor.

One family. One birth. One midwife’s full attention.
Home birth allows for continuous, individualized support from the same person you’ve seen all pregnancy. Your care is not divided between patients, or interrupted for shift change.

Walk the halls of your own home. Get in your tub. Change positions. Turn down the lights. Follow what your body is asking for.

For healthy, appropriately screened pregnancies, midwifery care is designed to protect normal physiology while carefully watching for signs that additional interventions may be needed.

Your partner can be deeply involved. Siblings can be nearby if you choose. Your support system can be present in a way that feels good to you.

Uninterrupted skin to skin. Breastfeeding support. Newborn assessment done on your chest. Recovery in your own bed.

Home birth isn’t about avoiding medical care. It’s about using it thoughtfully. Careful risk assessment, ongoing monitoring, emergency preparation, and a clear plan for transfer are all part of responsible home birth care.

The goal isn’t to convince every family to birth at home. It’s to make sure appropriate families know they have options - and can make an informed choice about where they feel safest to give birth.

One of the things I value most is collaborative care.

Pregnancy isn't about competing philosophies—it's about helping families receive the right care at the right time. Whether someone remains in my care or transfers to an obstetrician, I believe respectful communication between providers leads to better outcomes.

I also believe every family deserves to make informed decisions without fear, pressure, or judgment. My role is to provide evidence-based information, answer questions honestly, and support each client in choosing the path that feels right for them. Sometimes that path leads to home birth, sometimes to the hospital, and sometimes it changes along the way. Whatever the journey looks like, my commitment is to walk alongside you with respect, compassion, and a collaborative approach to your care.
Healthy communities are built when healthcare professionals can communicate respectfully, even when our perspectives differ.

That's the kind of care—and the kind of professional relationships—I hope to foster here in the Klamath Basin.
