🍼 Is Your Pump Fl**ge the Right Size?

When it comes to pumping, fl**ge size matters! A proper fit can make pumping more comfortable, help with effective milk removal, and reduce unnecessary stress during your pumping journey.

So, what should a good fl**ge fit look like? 👇🏼

✨ Your ni**le should be centered in the fl**ge tunnel.
✨ Your ni**le may touch the sides, but it shouldn’t be uncomfortable.
✨ No breast tissue should be pulled into the tunnel.
✨ Pumping should feel like gentle pulling—not pinching, rubbing, or pain.
✨ Your ni**le shouldn’t look excessively swollen, irritated, or discolored after pumping.

And remember—your fl**ge size may be different for each breast, and it can change throughout your breastfeeding journey.

Not sure if you’re using the right size? You don’t have to figure it out alone. A lactation consultant can evaluate your fit and help make pumping more comfortable, effective, and less stressful. 🤍

A better fit can mean a better pumping experience!

If you’ve been told your baby has a tongue tie, you may have heard terms like Class II or Class IV. But here’s an important thing for breastfeeding parents to know: the class alone doesn’t tell us how much a tongue tie is affecting your baby.

Every baby is different. What matters most is how the tongue functions and what is happening during feeding. A higher-class tongue tie may cause very few feeding problems, while a tie that appears less significant can sometimes create considerable challenges.

At The Breast Place, we look at the whole feeding picture. That includes your baby’s ability to lift, extend and move their tongue, create a good seal and suction, coordinate swallowing, and effectively transfer milk. We’re also paying attention to things like:

• Ni**le pain or tissue damage
• Clicking or frequently losing suction
• Difficulty maintaining a latch
• Long or exhausting feeding sessions
• Poor or concerning weight gain
• Difficulty transferring milk effectively
• Other oral or body factors that may be contributing

Appearance doesn’t always equal function. And a tongue-tie diagnosis doesn’t automatically mean a procedure is needed. A thorough feeding assessment can help determine what’s actually happening and what support may be beneficial.

If breastfeeding is painful, frustrating, or simply doesn’t feel like it’s going as well as it should, you don’t have to figure it out alone. 🤍 The Breast Place of Southern Oregon is here to evaluate the entire feeding experience and help you and your baby find a path forward.

For Breastfeeding Week, treat that breastfeeding M**F to something nice.

Whether she's nursing at the breast, attached to a pump multiple times a day, combo feeding, or doing all three, she's worked harder than most people will ever see.

The sleepless nights. The tears. The sore ni**les. The clogged ducts. The endless washing of pump parts. The mental load of keeping another human fed.

Buy her the coffee. The flowers. The comfy pajamas. The massage. Whatever makes her feel appreciated.

She's earned every bit of it. 🤍

You may remember a time when breast pumps ONLY came with just one or two fl**ge sizes. Usually 24 mm and maybe 28 mm. We now know that ni**les come in an enormous range of sizes, and a comfortable, effective fl**ge fit is one of the biggest factors in successful pumping. But for years, if your ni**les were smaller than the standard fl**ge, there simply weren’t many options.
That’s where fl**ge inserts came in. We have all different sizes of fl**ges here at The Breast Place. Let us get you the correct size with one of our quick 30-minute fl**ge fitting appointments. Booking link in IG Bio and Facebook Comments! **ge
