Practicing Meaningful Medicine: Reclaiming the Soul of Medicine

This evening, the Knoxville Academy of Medicine welcomed physicians and healthcare professionals for an inspiring CME Dinner focused on one of the most important conversations in healthcare today—how we reclaim purpose, meaning, and fulfillment in the practice of medicine.

As the demands of modern healthcare continue to evolve, tonight’s discussion challenged us to reflect on why we chose medicine, how we sustain our calling, and how we continue to care for ourselves while caring for others.

What a special morning at the Knoxville Academy of Medicine CME Brunch today 💙
We were honored to gather with physicians, spouses, and friends for “Practicing Meaningful Medicine: When Clinical Excellence Meets Faith and Purpose.” It was a morning filled with thoughtful conversation, shared stories, and meaningful reflection on why we do this work and how we care for both our patients and one another.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful presenters and to everyone who joined us for fellowship, learning, and a full breakfast buffet. Events like this remind us that medicine is not just a profession — it’s a calling grounded in purpose, compassion, and community.

Today is Giving Tuesday!

The KAPA Kitchen is excited to be participating in the 2025 Giving Tuesday! Collectively, physicians and community donors have distributed more than 100,000 pounds of food to our neighbors in need!!!

In November, in addition to regular shopping hours in the KAPA Kitchen, we partnered with Wellpoint, Faith Promise Church, McNabb Center, and Gordon Foods to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 600 families! Also in November, we were able to purchase a refrigerated vehicle that has already reaped more than 4,600 pounds of food rescue from NEW food donation sources for the KAPA Kitchen. That’s 4,600 pounds of additional food for families in the month of November alone!

SNAP benefits are being restored but the need for a stable food source is still much needed. You can provide food for the Christmas Holidays and beyond by donating on Giving Tuesday to the KAPA Kitchen. Your tax deductible donation will go to provide food for families in more than 23 counties.
