We got a new Hoyer lift in the office for training, and our team is putting it to good use!

Hands-on training gives caregivers the opportunity to practice proper techniques, ask questions, and build confidence before those skills are needed in a client’s home. It’s one more way we work to support safe, thoughtful, and dependable care for the seniors and families we serve.

We’re excited to keep learning, practicing, and growing as a team.

📸 Take a look at a few behind-the-scenes photos from our training!

One big concerns for families is 👉 “If Mom or Dad accepts help at home, will they lose their independence?”

The answer is simple - Accepting support does not automatically mean giving up control.

The right kind of help should be built around what an older adult can still do, what they want to continue doing, and where a little assistance could make everyday life easier or safer.

That might mean receiving help with one part of the day while continuing to make personal choices, follow familiar routines, enjoy favorite activities, and remain involved in decisions.

Support shouldn’t be about taking over someone’s life. It should be about helping protect the dignity, choices, routines, and independence that matter to them.

Sometimes, getting a little help can actually make it easier to keep doing the things you love.

💙 If someone in your family worries that accepting help means giving up independence, share this post with them.

Healthy aging doesn’t always look like a big milestone. Sometimes, it looks like:

💫 Mom making her own breakfast in the morning
💫 Dad sitting on the porch with his coffee
💫 Choosing what to wear
💫 Calling an old friend
💫 Attending church on Sunday
💫 Cooking a favorite recipe
💫 Or simply continuing a familiar routine that makes the day feel like their day

The little things are often the things that matter most. As care needs change, supporting healthy aging isn’t about taking over. It’s about helping older adults continue participating in the routines, choices, relationships, and moments that give their lives meaning.

Because independence can look different for every person, and preserving it often starts by listening to what matters most to them.

💬 What everyday activity or routine is especially important to your parent or loved one? Share it with us in the comments.

Healthy aging is about so much more than doctor appointments and medications.

As we recognize Healthy Aging Month, it’s a good time to look at the everyday things that can help Mom or Dad continue living safely, confidently, and meaningfully at home.

Here are 5 areas families can pay attention to:

🏠 Safety: Is the home environment still easy and safe to move around in?

🥗 Nutrition: Are meals being prepared and eaten regularly?

🚶 Movement: Are they able to stay active in ways that feel comfortable and appropriate?

❤️ Social Connection: Are they staying connected with friends, family, church, or their community?

🌿 Independence: Are they still able to make choices, maintain routines, and do the things that matter most to them?

Healthy aging doesn’t mean doing everything alone. Sometimes, the right support can help an older adult hold onto the routines, choices, and independence that make home feel like home.

📌 Save this as your September healthy-aging check-in and use it the next time you visit Mom or Dad.

💛 Sometimes a simple question can open the door to a conversation someone desperately needs.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re reminded that emotional well-being matters at every age. If a senior, caregiver, friend, or loved one seems withdrawn, hopeless, or simply not like themselves, reach out.

Ask how they’re doing, really listen, stay connected, and encourage them to seek professional support when needed.

You don’t have to have all the answers to show someone they matter. A caring conversation and a willingness to listen can make a meaningful difference.

➡️ If someone is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
