💚 Some of the most important work in our communities happens behind the scenes.

Our Morning Pointe Senior Living Business Office Directors came together this week in Ooltewah, TN, for their annual conference, with time to reconnect, share best practices, strengthen processes, and learn alongside colleagues who understand the many details their roles require.

These leaders help keep so much running smoothly within each community, supporting residents, families, associates, and fellow department leaders through the work they do every day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring this team together, share ideas, and send everyone home reenergized for the work ahead.

Thank you to our Business Office Directors for all you do to support Morning Pointe! 💚

🧠🏆 Family Trivia Night brought out everyone’s competitive side!

Residents, families, and volunteers teamed up for an evening of trivia, with volunteer Ruth Ann Bendy keeping the questions and banter going while our dietary team served up a delicious meal.

A big thank you to Community Wellness Partners, UT Hospice, Caring Senior Moves, and Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital for providing prizes and helping make the evening extra special!

We love seeing so many people around the table together, even when bragging rights are on the line. 😊🧡

🏥 The hospital says Mom or Dad can’t safely go home. Now what?

A fall or unexpected hospital stay can quickly leave families facing a stack of discharge papers and a big question about what comes next.

One of the first places to look is the Discharge Summary or Plan of Care. It can help you understand what your loved one can safely do, medication changes and the level of support they may need next.

This week’s Understanding Senior Living blog breaks down the paperwork, the difference between short-term rehab and assisted living, and the questions to ask before discharge.

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, we know these decisions can come quickly. Knowing what to look for can help you better understand your options.

🌿🧺 A picnic by the river earned some pretty high praise!

Residents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, sharing a picnic by the river before heading out for a walk through the park. Good food, beautiful surroundings, and great company made for quite the outing.

In fact, Elizabeth called it her favorite Morning Pointe outing so far! 🤎 We’ll take that review!

💖 Remembering Dolly Parton

Today, the Morning Pointe family joins so many in remembering Dolly Parton and the extraordinary joy she brought to generations.

For many of our residents at Morning Pointe Senior Living, Dolly has simply always been there. For Morning Pointe of Hixson resident Konnie Kittrell, that connection is especially personal.

In fact, Konnie and her remarkable career were recently featured as the cover story of our latest Milestones magazine. She spent years leading costuming for Dollywood productions and helping bring Dolly’s creative visions to life. Konnie remembers Dolly as “warm, giggly, brilliant, and kind.”

Her story is a special reminder of the personal connections behind an extraordinary legacy. Across our communities, residents knew Dolly’s music, followed her career, and grew older alongside her.

With our Tennessee roots, we’ve always felt a special connection to Dolly, but the joy she brought reached far beyond any one state or generation.

Thank you for the music, the laughter, and the heart, Dolly. 🦋

🥎💙 The Lady Panthers brought their energy off the field and into Morning Pointe!

The Pellissippi State Community College Lady Panthers softball team spent time with residents playing Cupcake Walk, laughing, and even doing a little dancing. Afterward, the players pitched in with service work around the community. 😊

We loved having these student-athletes with us and look forward to continuing this partnership!

📍 When searching for assisted living, how much should location really matter?

More than you might think. Choosing a senior living community within about 15 minutes of home, work, or your everyday routine can make it easier to turn planned visits into ordinary moments together.

A quick lunch. Dropping off a favorite snack. Stopping by after running errands. Those smaller visits can help a loved one stay connected to the everyday lives of family while also giving families more opportunities to stay involved in their care.

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, we know there’s a lot for families to consider when exploring senior living options. This week’s Understanding Senior Living blog takes a closer look at why proximity deserves a place alongside care, services, and amenities, plus practical ways to evaluate location during your search.

☀️💧 When temperatures climb, staying cool and hydrated becomes especially important for older adults.

Older adults can be more vulnerable to heat-related illness because the body may not adjust as quickly to sudden temperature changes. During periods of extreme heat, here are a few important reminders:

💧 Drink fluids regularly throughout the day.
🏠 Spend time in cool, air-conditioned spaces.
👕 Choose lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
☀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during extreme heat.
⚠️ Watch for signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, weakness, nausea or confusion.

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, our teams are keeping the heat in mind, too. Hydration carts and refreshing drinks help encourage fluids throughout the day, while ice pops, ice cream socials and other cool treats offer fun ways to beat the summer heat indoors. ❤️🍦

As high temperatures continue across much of the Southeast, remember to check in on the older adults in your life and help them stay cool, comfortable and hydrated.
