😬 MYTH vs. FACT

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that babies need teeth before they can start eating solid foods. The truth? Teeth aren't the milestone... readiness is.

Babies are able to mash appropriately prepared foods with their gums. There is bone underneath those gums and baby teeth are already beginning to develop. Their jaw provides a firm surface for them to bite and mash food.

Instead of waiting for that first tooth, watch for signs of readiness:

• Sitting with minimal support
• Good head and neck control
• The ability to bring their hand to their mouth
• Showing and interest in what others are eating
• Baby has lost their tongue thrust reflex

Every baby will develop at their own pace but most babies are ready at about 6 months of age.

What BLW myths have you heard?

😍 Favorite Find!! 💕
This thing is incredible! Look how many bubbles it gives off! I love a couple of things about this one. The amount of bubble is obvious but I also love that it breaks down super easily and fits into a little box that I keep in my car and take everywhere with me. It has a rechargeable battery and it came with two or three bubble jars you can refill (so keep the lids! A mistake I won't make again 🤪). I found that each jar last about 20ish minutes.

I've always said that bubbles are the timeless toy! But they aren't just good fun.... They also encourage:

• Gross motor skills as kids run, jump and chase.
• Visual tracking and hand-eye coordination.
• Family fun, smilies and laughter 😉

Looking for a low-prep activity today? I've got just the thing! Learning doesn't have to be complicated and it SHOULD be fun!

• Fill a bin (or bowl or anything else you have available) with dried lentils, beans, corn or whatever filler you have on hand.
• Toss in some foam sticker letters (you can get these at Walmart super cheap). You could also use magnetic letters for this if you already have those and use a cookie sheet for the letter sheet so they will stick.
• Add: scoops, spoons, tongs, funnels, tweezers etc. (get creative).

Then let your child hunt for letters an match them to the FREE printable alphabet page! It's a playful way to build letter recognition while practicing hand strength, coordination, and problem solving. Allowing them to take the backs off the stickers themselves is helpful as well. And if your child already has letter recognition down, have them say the sounds before sticking them to the sheet.

The kids LOVED this one! And everyone wins because they think they are just playing 💕

📚Behind the scenes....

Creating this Baby-Led Weaning workshop has involved a lot of time spent researching, organizing ideas, and drawing from years of hands-on experience from working with young children and families.

My goal isn't to tell parents what to do... it’s to help them understand why it works, so they can make confident decisions that fit their child and their family.

I'm excited to share it with you soon!

💡What’s the most creative potty training tip you’ve heard? ✨

This made me smile! Such a creative reminder that potty training doesn’t always have to be so serious. Sometimes turning a challenge into something fun is all it takes to help a child feel more comfortable.

Every child is different, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but I love collecting creative ideas like this from other caregivers!

I’ve never really done a real introduction here, so I thought now would be a good time. I’m Julie, the face behind TRI Parenting!

Currently I am a nanny and Newborn Care Specialist, but have spent my entire adult life working with children and teens. Along with formal education, I believe that much of what we learn comes right there from being in the everyday moments with people. Being present for mealtimes, the big feelings, the developmental stages, and finding answers to all of the questions that come along with caring for little ones has been my passion for quite some time.

That’s why I created TRI Parenting. I love taking what I have learned through years of experience, education, and research, and turning it into practical ideas that can help parents (and all caregivers) with everyday moments.

Right now, I am especially excited about expanding workshops, resources, and one-on-one support for families and caregivers of babies and young children. Baby-Led Weaning will be my first workshop, so stay tuned for that!

Outside of TRI Parenting, I still really love nannying, I am a Christ follower (while fully aware that I don’t always get it right), enjoy a good hike and being outdoors, and my heart is growing increasingly fond of Roane County (Harriman in particular). I often use creative outlets like writing poetry, painting, and drawing as a form of stress relief.

Anyway, I’d love to get to know more about the people in this community, so please, tell me about YOU! I am so glad you’re here 💕

There is something special about watching nannies come together… not just to care for the children they love, but to support one another as well.💕

As a nanny myself, I truly appreciate gatherings like these. They provide an opportunity to build friendships, share ideas, encourage one another, and remember that we don’t have to do this work alone.

TRI-Parenting was honored to partner with Knox Nanny Collective and Sweet Peas Nanny Agency to provide snacks for this year’s National Nanny Play Date.

A huge thank you to We Rock the Spectrum for generously opening their party room and creating such a welcoming space for everyone to gather, play, and connect.

It was wonderful seeing children laugh, explore, and make new friends while the caregivers who pour so much into others had the chance to build community too.

Here’s to celebrating the incredible work nannies do every single day, and to the organizations that make events like this possible. ❤️

🌿 A New Chapter for TRI Parenting

Over the past several months, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how I can best serve families during the early years. That reflection has led to some exciting changes that I am ready to share with you! Going forward, TRI Parenting will be focusing on:

• Parent workshops beginning with Baby-Led Weaning, and expanding into other early childhood topics.

• Practical resources, caregiver tips, and ideas families can use at home.

• Fun, simple activities that encourage learning through everyday play.

• Opportunities to connect with other families through community events.

While the way TRI Parenting serves families is evolving, the mission remains the same:

Teach with Purpose • Reflect with Honesty • Inspire with Love

I've also been working behind the scenes to refresh the TRI Parenting website, and I'd love for you to take a look and let me know what you think!
