A team at Stanford’s Department of Dermatology did something unusual with a cosmetic treatment.

Instead of photographing results, they sequenced the skin.

They took biopsies of aged skin, young skin, and aged skin that had received three BroadBand Light treatments (BBL) — then read the gene expression in each.

Aging skin showed altered expression in 2,265 coding and noncoding RNAs. After BBL, 1,293 of them had moved back toward the levels found in young skin.

That’s one of the reasons why we chose the BBL from Sciton Inc. We treat photoaged skin every week on this island, and the sun here does not take a season off.
