25 years later, we remember. 🤍

This photo was taken during our visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, an experience that was incredibly emotional and difficult to put into words. Standing in a place that holds so many stories of lives lost, families forever changed, unimaginable courage and resilience is something we will never forget.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and hold in our hearts the families, survivors, first responders, and countless others whose lives were forever impacted by September 11, 2001.

Ever wonder what’s happening during the eye movements in EMDR? 👀↔️🧠

One leading explanation is that bilateral stimulation places an additional demand on the working memory while you briefly bring a distressing memory to mind.

Because your brain is doing both at once, the memory may begin to feel less vivid and emotionally intense, making space for it to be processed in a new way.

The memory doesn’t disappear… it can simply start to feel less overwhelming.

That’s part of the goal of EMDR: helping you remember what happened without feeling like you’re still in it.

I have conducted EMDR therapy with clients for years and have witnessed significant improvements from clients!

One of the things I value most about social work is that we never stop learning. Some of our greatest growth happens when we have a safe space to ask questions, process the hard cases, build confidence, and figure out the kind of clinician we want to become. 🤍

With nearly 15 years of experience across private practice, schools, nonprofit organizations, community mental health, crisis response, program development, and leadership, I bring a real-world perspective to supervision. My clinical experience includes trauma-informed care, EMDR, somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches, CBT, DBT-informed care, IFS-informed work, motivational interviewing, grief and loss, and more.

Supervision can include:
• Case consultation & clinical skill development
• Ethical decision-making and professional growth
• Support navigating challenging cases
• Developing your professional identity and confidence
• Self-care and sustainable practice
• Licensure exam prep, study strategies & test-taking confidence 📚
• And plenty of space to ask the questions you didn’t ask in grad school. 😉

My goal isn’t to create clinicians who practice exactly like I do. It’s to help emerging social workers become competent, ethical, confident clinicians who develop their own clinical voice.

Today we created our own jellyfish and then used them as a visual for slow, deep breathing, imagining the jellyfish gently floating up and down with each breath. We paired our breathing with an ocean-themed guided meditation to practice slowing down our bodies, focusing our attention, and finding a sense of calm. 🌊🫧

Creative activities like this can make coping skills more concrete, memorable, and fun for children working through anxiety, ADHD, and big emotions. 🧠✨
