But the herd demands something entirely different: they ask you to be exactly who you are, inviting you to step into the arena with absolute authenticity, which breeds confidence.

Indy’s Lesson about Strength Through Vulnerability 🐴✨

Indy demonstrates masterfully what it takes to build a bridge for safety and authentic connection in relationships.

We recently introduced a pony to the herd. She was nervous and didn't trust the bigger horses. Indy didn't try to force her way into the pony's space or show off how big and strong she was. Instead, she did something beautiful:

She attempted engagement, and when the pony moved away out of fear, Indy respected the pony's request for space and did something so inviting, she immediately dropped to the ground and rolled.

In the horse world, showing your belly is the ultimate sign of trust. It’s saying, "I’m showing you my most sensitive part. I am safe. We are safe. It is safe." She did this dance multiple times—rolling, walking closer, and rolling again—until the pony finally understood the invitation. She never once took the pony's fear personally; she just stayed true to herself and offered an invitation for vulnerability.
Indy reminds us that, it takes vulnerability to invite vulnerability.

In our human lives, we are often taught that vulnerability is a flaw—something to be "fixed" or hidden. Indy beautifully reminds us that vulnerability is actually a bridge. It takes true courage to be vulnerable, and by showing vulnerability, you invite others to feel safe to shed some of their armor too.

Authentic connection happens in the depths, not on the surface. Let’s create environments where armor can come off without fear of vulnerabilities being used against you.

EMBARK LLC is thrilled to announce that we are deepening our expertise through an immersive apprenticeship with the world-renowned thought leader and author, Linda Kohanov.

Learning directly from Linda is a transformative opportunity. Her foundational work in The Power of the Herd and The Five Roles of a Master Herder provides a revolutionary roadmap for approaching power. By moving away from traditional oppressive models of control and toward non-predatory, collaborative leadership, we unlock a more authentic way of moving through the world.

We are eager to bring these insights back to our community. In the near future, EMBARK LLC will be offering specialized workshops designed for leaders and individuals ready to expand their social and emotional intelligence and to explore the skillsets of a "Master Herder."

This past week, our hearts were heavy as we said goodbye to one of our cherished equine partners, Sage. 💔

Sage began experiencing medical complexities that, despite best efforts and the vets' guidance, became a mystery. When her bad days began to outnumber the good, a challenging decision had to be made. One week ago, surrounded by her loved ones—both two-legged and four—Sage was compassionately laid to rest.

The passing of a beloved animal leaves a profound void. We mourn not just a presence, but the unique, wordless connection—the comfortable weight against your leg, the nuzzle on your shoulder, and the unconditional love that filled your daily rhythm. When a life ends, the world feels different. Healing isn't about time; it's about honoring the love and the absence while we learn to adjust and reconnect to the life still around us.

Grief is one of life’s unavoidable challenges. Loss is the cost of love, and in honor of love, we created this workshop.

Held by Horses is a supportive space for anyone navigating the heartbreak of grief—from the loss of a person, a beloved pet, or any other significant, personal loss. Here, you are invited to be surrounded by the embodied presence of our herd, to share your story and be truly heard, and to witness one another as partners on our uniquely individualized grief journeys.

It’s an honor to hold space for those experiencing one of life's most challenging experiences: loss. 💔

The grief that accompanies loss can be debilitating. It may feel like you’ll never get back to your previous self—and that’s likely true, because that self has a missing piece. As David Kessler says, “Grief is love with nowhere to put it.” 🫂

Healing requires acceptance and true acknowledgment of this missing piece. Grief often includes not just the person you lost, but also the person you were with them. It's about mourning them, who you were, while also figuring out who you are now and who you will become.

Loss has many faces—some we acknowledge, and many we don't. That’s why we’ve created this space.

🌿 An Insightful Conversation: Tending Loss in Uncertain Times

Grief touches us all—but it’s rarely acknowledged or given space. Join Leezá Carlone Steindorf, Certified Kessler Grief Educator, and Kara Seibert, LICSW & equine-assisted practitioner, for a free 90-minute online gathering.

We’ll explore how grief shows up in our lives and culture, unpack myths about loss, and create a safe space for reflection and healing. Expect honest dialogue, small-group sharing, and an introduction to how horses support offering presence and reconnection.

What a refreshing and phenomenal afternoon! ☀️

Today, EMBARK LLC facilitated our "Unwind & Recharge: A Self-Care Workshop with Horses." Our focus was simple but profound: intentionally shifting into the parasympathetic nervous system—our body's "rest and digest" response—to complete the stress cycle.

Like life, the process had its moments of flow and gentle challenge, but by holding space for one another and the horses, we cultivated a deep sense of regulation.

Participants called the day perfect and offered one piece of advice for future attendees: "to be still."

This workshop was truly incredible, and we can’t wait to offer it again! Follow us for updates on our next self-care event.
