Please SHARE this post. Today marks 10 years since we bought Martin Wilson.
Ten years ago today, we took a leap of faith. We stepped into the unknown with a dream in our hearts, a calling to serve, and a strong belief that God would guide us, protect us, and walk beside us every step of the way.
At just 30 years old, I had a vision. It wasn't about building a business or making a name for myself. It was about making a difference in the lives of families during some of the most difficult days they would ever face. I wanted to create a place where families would find compassion instead of just a service, comfort instead of confusion, and someone who genuinely cared when their world seemed to be falling apart.
What I didn't realize ten years ago was just how deeply those families would change my own life.
Over the years, we have shared more than funeral services. We have shared tears, laughter, stories, meals, prayers, and memories. We have sat around kitchen tables listening to stories about lives well lived. We have hugged families when there were simply no words left to say. We have formed friendships and bonds that extend far beyond the walls of our funeral home.
We have stood beside grieving husbands and wives at cemeteries, sometimes long after everyone else had gone home, because saying that final goodbye is never easy. We have watched children walk into a room to see their mother or father for the first time after death, knowing their lives would never be quite the same. We have sat across from mothers and fathers who had lost a child and witnessed a heartbreak that no parent should ever have to endure.
There have been moments when we had to hold back our own tears so we could be strong for the families who needed us. And there have been moments when we simply cried right alongside them.
Those are not just services we have provided. Those are people, families, and memories that will remain in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
The past ten years have also brought heartache into our own lives. We have said goodbye to family members, employees, and dear friends who meant so much to us. We have experienced loss personally, and those empty places in our hearts serve as reminders of just how precious life truly is.
There have been difficult days, long nights, challenges, and moments when we wondered what tomorrow might bring. But through every obstacle, every heartache, and every season of uncertainty, God has remained faithful.
From the day we bought the funeral home on October 16, 2016, to our move into a different facility in 2023, we have witnessed God's guidance and blessings in ways that words cannot fully explain.
One thing I have told our staff many times is that our responsibility to a family doesn't end when the funeral is over or when the last car leaves the cemetery.
We don't just walk with families for a few days. We walk hand in hand with them for the rest of our lives.
That is a promise I believed in ten years ago, and it is a promise I believe in even more today.
We have also worked hard to remain committed to affordable funeral and cremation services. I have always believed that a family should never have to sacrifice dignity, compassion, or a meaningful goodbye because of the cost. Families already carry enough burdens when losing someone they love. Our responsibility is to help ease those burdens, not add to them.
As I look back over this past decade, I realize that the greatest blessings have not been found in buildings, accomplishments, or milestones. They have been found in the people.
The families who trusted us when their hearts were broken. The friendships that began during difficult circumstances. The hugs, the handshakes, the kind words, the prayers, and the families who continue to stay in touch years after we first met.
You have given us far more than your business. You have given us your trust, your friendship, and a place in your lives. That is something we will never take for granted.
Ten years ago, we had no way of knowing where this journey would lead. We only knew that we wanted to serve others and trust God with the rest.
Today, ten years later, that remains our purpose.
We are not perfect. We never have been, and we never will be. But our hearts have always been in the right place, and our desire to treat every family with kindness, dignity, respect, and genuine compassion has never changed.
As we walk ths path,, we will continue trusting God's plan, following His guidance, and doing everything we can to be there for the families of this wonderful community.
From the bottom of my heart, from Jessica, the Freeman family, and our wonderful, dedicated, and loving staff — THANK YOU.
Thank you for believing in us.
Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for your friendships, encouragement, and prayers.
And most importantly, thank you for placing your precious loved ones into our care for the past ten years.
We know that trust is earned, never owed, and we will spend every day working to remain worthy of it.
Ten years of memories. Ten years of friendships. Ten years of tears, prayers, and blessings. Ten years of walking beside families when they needed someone most.
And through it all, one thing has remained certain:
God has been faithful, and families will always matter most.
We are here for many years to come.
With sincere love, appreciation, and gratitude,
