This week, two celebrations come together around one shared purpose: connecting people with the care and support they need.

While we continue to celebrate Illinois Free & Charitable Clinics Month, we are also proud to recognize National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, August 24-28, as celebrated by the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW).

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are trusted neighbors, connectors, advocates, and guides who help people navigate the healthcare system, overcome barriers, and access important services and resources.

This same spirit of connection is also at the heart of free and charitable clinics. Together, CHWs, clinics, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community partners help make care feel a little more accessible for the people who need it.

This week, we celebrate CHWs everywhere and thank them for the relationships they build and the difference they make in their communities. 🎉💙⭐🎊

Going strong for 25 years, TCHP has been showing what it means to care for their neighbors. Behind every patient visit is a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and community partners committed to making sure people have somewhere to turn when they need essential care.

Today’s is on the Interprofessional Community Clinic (ICC) at the Rosalind Franklin University.

The ICC is a student-led clinic where the next generation of healthcare professionals is already showing up for their community. 💙

Health professions students from multiple disciplines work side by side with volunteer faculty to break down real barriers to care, including language, transportation, and medication costs. This is healthcare built on teamwork, and it's making a huge difference across Lake County.
