When it comes to choosing a Medicare plan, focusing only on the monthly premium could result in a plan that doesn’t fit your health needs.

While the premium is an important consideration, it’s also worth checking the following:
✔️ Whether your current doctors would still be in-network under a new plan
✔️ Whether your prescriptions are covered at a cost you can manage
✔️ How the plan handles referrals and specialist visits

If you’ve built a relationship with your care team, that continuity is worth protecting.

Your CareMore Health provider can help you think through what matters most as you review your options this fall.

Visit caremore.com/current-patients to book an appointment with your provider and talk through your options.

Feeling fine doesn’t always mean everything is fine. That is one reason blood pressure checks matter.

For older adults, blood pressure can shift over time. Summer heat can also add extra strain on the heart.

Consider these habits to help keep hypertension at bay:
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Keep up with your medications
✔️ Check in with your provider regularly

If you use a home blood pressure monitor, bring those readings to your next appointment. They can give your doctor a fuller picture.

With CareMore Health, you don’t have to manage blood pressure on your own. Your care team can help you stay on track

☀️ Summer heat can affect the body before you realize something is wrong, especially for older adults.

CareMore Health’s regional medical officer Dr. Heather Swanson recently spoke with Nifty50Plus about how to stay safer in the heat.

She shared that older adults may have a harder time cooling down, and some medications can affect how well the body handles heat.

“That doesn’t mean you should stop (taking your medications),” explained Dr. Swanson, “but it does mean we need to be a little more careful during periods of extreme heat.”

✔️ One helpful tip: sip water consistently throughout the day, even when you don’t feel thirsty.

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) opens October 15, but it’s not too early to start thinking about your coverage.

Before October 15 rolls around, it’s worth considering these questions:
✔️ Does your current plan still fit your health needs?
✔️ Have your medications, specialists, or conditions changed since last year?
✔️ Would your care team still be in-network under a new plan?

A little preparation now can help you protect the care relationships that matter to you. Your CareMore Health team can help you think through what to look for when reviewing your options.

Are you up to date with your vaccines? National Immunization Awareness Month is a good reminder to think about preventive care.

If it’s been a while since your last flu, shingles, or pneumonia shot, you don’t need a separate appointment. During a regular visit, your doctor can review your vaccine history, answer questions, and talk through what they recommend for you.

Whole-person care includes conversations about vaccines and a care team that helps you stay on track.

Call your CareMore Health clinic to see if you need a vaccine.

Caring for an older loved one can be exhausting, especially when you're figuring it out without much guidance.

Many caregivers manage medications, coordinate appointments, and monitor health changes — often without much support.

If you're supporting a family member, these steps can help:

✔️ Bring questions to your loved one's appointments
✔️ Ask the care team to walk you through medications and warning signs
✔️ Let providers know if something has changed at home
✔️ Seek caregiver resources for better support

Care that includes the people around a patient leads to better outcomes for everyone.

At CareMore Health, we welcome caregivers to join the conversation and treat them as an important part of the care team.

How has your loved one’s care team included you in the conversation? Share in the comments what makes you feel most supported as a caregiver.

Changes in your vision or hearing can creep up gradually. Sometimes they happen so slowly, you barely notice.

If you experience any of these signs, it may be time to have a conversation about sensory health:

✔️ Difficulty following conversations in noisy settings
✔️ Frequently asking others to repeat themselves
✔️ Needing more light to read comfortably
✔️ Noticing changes in your balance or depth perception

Care that supports healthy aging includes keeping an eye on vision and hearing over time. Your CareMore Health team can help determine whether it makes sense to take a closer look.

What’s one change in your hearing or vision that surprised you the most?
