We are excited to welcome Maria “Rose” Rosario Lopez, RN, MSN, MBA-HCM- as the new Chief Nursing Officer at South Sound Behavioral Hospital. Rose comes to SSBH from Norwalk Community Hospital where she served as Hospital Administrator and prior with Carrollton Regional Medical Center where she served as CNO/COO. Rose is a tenured senior healthcare executive with 33+ years of progressive healthcare experience, including 18+ years in executive leadership roles across acute care hospitals and critical access facilities with multi-site operations. She has served in executive positions across rural community hospitals to large multi-hospital systems. Rose’s colleagues know her to be an intelligent leader who supports her team(s) with devotion and mutual respect. In her new role with SSBH, Rose will assist to strengthen the clinical care of every patient while building key initiatives which support the mission of SSBH- “bringing humanity to healthcare”. South Sound Behavioral Hospital celebrated their employees during this year's National Hospital Week 2026 (May 10-16th). Team-mates enjoyed swag-bags, custom t-shirts, complimentary lunches, gourmet coffee drinks, an ice-cream social, a flower bouquet station and finally BBQ from local legend Marvs Marvulus Pit Bar on Friday, March 15th on the hospital campus from 12-3PM where they have invited the community to join them. The IMPACTS team, along with SSBH Leadership worked over-time to ensure that each and every employee felt special and appreciated during this year's national week of gratitude.

The Admissions Team at South Sound Behavioral Hospital kicks-off the 2026 National Hospital Week by handing-out "goody-bags" to their hard-working ambulance drivers and EMT's. These community partnerships are invaluable to SSBH as is the care of the patients being transported to/from the hospital, day and night, 24/7. We are excited to welcome Joe Noffsinger as the new Chief Operating Officer at South Sound Behavioral Hospital. Joe comes to SSBH from Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital, where he served as Chief Nursing Officer. He brings experience across bedside nursing, behavioral health, and hospital leadership, and has spent much of his career working closely with clinical teams in both acute and residential settings. Joe began his career in a Neurological ICU and later worked in youth behavioral health supporting adolescents with complex clinical needs. He also served as Director of Nursing at multiple residential treatment facilities leading care for a high-acuity population. In addition, Joe recently completed his MSN, training as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to further strengthen his clinical foundation. Joe’s peers know him to be a steady and team-oriented leader who focuses on the day-to-day operations in the hospital. In this role, he will assist to strengthen clinical care, support SSBH team mates, and continue building on the initiatives already underway across the hospital. Please join us in welcoming Joe.

South Sound Behavioral Hospital was honored to be invited to participate in the 6th Annual Health & Wellness Fair at Revel Communities in Lacey, WA on April 29th. Local partners in the health & wellness community came together to offer the seniors who reside at Revel Communities, and thier guests, an opportunity to speak with healthcare experts in the field of senior care. Everything from diet & excercise, to commodoties, health insurance & homecare, to therapies and new senior medical innovations were on-hand. SSBH values it's new IOP partnership with Revel Communities and we look forward to participating in next year's event.
