Every callus is a signal. Skin doesn’t just thicken and build up for no reason — it’s protecting itself from constant friction. Your body doesn’t understand what’s happening; it senses a threat and responds the only way it knows how. Ingrown toenails tell the same story: the toe gets compressed, has nowhere to grow, and ends up growing in the wrong direction.

⚽ A special note on athletic shoes — they should always be at least half a size bigger than your everyday shoes. During activity, your feet swell and shift inside the shoe, and if there’s no room, friction is unavoidable.

👞 But everyday shoes deserve just as much attention. Material matters too: genuine leather or breathable textile lets your feet “breathe” and reduces irritation and moisture buildup, which can also lead to problems.

The golden rule I always repeat: choose shoes based on how they feel right now, not the number on the label. Sizing varies between brands and models — trust your feet, not the tag‼️

Even a small corn is a warning sign.
If it’s not removed in time, it will grow and dig deeper into the skin.

It’s all about mechanics: friction and improper pressure on the foot. Often the cause is the wrong shoes — especially sports shoes. If the shoes rub or don’t fit properly, the corn can come back even after removal.

That’s why it’s important not just to remove the corn, but also to choose the right shoes — for the foot and the activity level. Only then does the problem stay gone

Not every painful toenail is actually ingrown‼️

Very often, the real cause is a subungual callus—a buildup of hardened skin beneath the edge of the nail that creates pressure and pain.

Repeatedly cutting the sides of the nail doesn’t solve the problem. In fact, over time it can change the way the nail grows, contribute to nail deformity, and increase the risk of a true ingrown toenail.

Doing so is one of the most common causes of ingrown nails, deformity, and chronic inflammation.
When the sides of the nail plate are cut away:
• The nail’s natural growth pattern is disrupted.
• The nail bed sustains mechanical trauma.
• The nail begins to grow incorrectly, curling and embedding itself into the soft tissue.

The golden rule of a healthy pedicure:
Trim your nails STRAIGHT ACROSS ONLY.
Leave the side corners alone. Do not round them off or cut deep into the sides.
