The way we think shapes our reality. At this members-only dinner, Bob Giles will share how to recognize the cognitive blind spots that hold us back and how shifting our mindset can help unlock our fullest potential in business and in life!

Bob Giles, owner of Giles Automotive, Inc., began working in his family’s Texas car dealerships at a young age. After earning a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University, he moved to Lafayette in 1982 and launched his own automotive business. Today, he oversees multiple dealerships and ventures while building a strong legacy in both business and real estate development. He is also widely known across Acadiana for his philanthropy and community leadership, supporting numerous charitable initiatives and civic organizations.

Dinner will be provided. The evening’s menu will feature Belle River chicken penne pasta with haricot verts, served with water or tea.

Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed, it’s not just in our head—our nervous system is activated and trying to protect us.
When that happens, it can feel hard to think clearly, stay present, or even feel like yourself.

That’s where quick, sensory-based “reset” strategies can help bring you back into the moment.

Things like:
• holding something cold
• splashing cold water on your face
• stepping outside for fresh air
• engaging your senses (what you can see, hear, feel)

These aren’t about forcing yourself to calm down—they’re about giving your nervous system a signal that you’re safe enough to come back to the present.

Over time, learning how to gently interrupt that activated state can help you feel more in control, rather than overwhelmed by it.
