Welcome to Relationship Pattern of the Week! ✨

This week’s pattern: Conflict Avoidance

Conflict avoidance often comes from a good place. Maybe you’ve learned that conflict leads to rejection, criticism, or disconnection. Maybe keeping the peace has always felt safer than speaking up.

The problem is that unspoken needs don’t disappear—they often become resentment.

Healthy relationships aren’t built by avoiding difficult conversations. They’re built by learning how to have them with honesty, respect, and compassion.

Reflection:
Do I avoid conflict to protect the relationship… or because I don’t feel safe enough to be honest?

Sometimes the conversation you’re avoiding is the one that creates greater understanding.

Save this post if it resonated, and share it with someone who might benefit from understanding this common relationship pattern.

Hi, I’m Regina! I’m a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor who works with couples and individuals navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, life transitions, and attachment concerns. I’m also Gottman Level 2 trained and passionate about helping people better understand themselves and the relationships that matter most to them.

One thing I’ve learned—both in the therapy room and in my own life—is that relationships aren’t usually damaged by one big moment. More often, they’re shaped by the patterns we find ourselves repeating over time.

Each week, I’ll be breaking down a common relationship pattern, exploring what’s happening beneath the surface, and sharing practical tools to help you build healthier, more connected relationships. Whether you’re in a relationship, dating, healing from one, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, I hope this series gives you something meaningful to take with you.

Healthy relationships aren’t about being perfect—they’re about understanding the patterns we create and learning new ways to connect.

It must be summer. ☀️😅

Between vacations, camps, family visits, and trying to squeeze every bit out of longer days, summer schedules have a way of keeping everyone on their toes.

This one’s all in good fun. We know life happens, and sometimes plans change. We appreciate our clients and understand that cancellations are part of real life.

Here’s your gentle reminder that your mental health doesn’t have to take the whole summer off, too. We’ll be here whenever you’re ready to jump back in. 🌿

At first glance, scorekeeping can look like an argument about chores, errands, or who initiated date night.

But underneath, it’s often about something much deeper.
When we don’t feel appreciated or supported, we naturally begin paying closer attention to what we’re contributing. Before long, both partners are keeping mental tallies, trying to prove how much they’re carrying.

Healthy relationships aren’t about splitting every responsibility 50/50 every single day. They’re about creating a partnership where both people feel valued, supported, and appreciated over time.

Reflection: Have you ever caught yourself keeping score? What need was underneath it?

Save this post if it resonated, and share it with someone who might benefit from understanding this common relationship pattern.

Welcome to Relationship of the Week! ✨

This week’s pattern: Stonewalling.

Stonewalling is one of the most misunderstood relationship patterns.

Many people assume silence means someone doesn’t care. In reality, it often means their nervous system has become overwhelmed.

The key isn’t forcing the conversation to continue. It’s learning how to pause intentionally and return once both partners are able to engage.

Healthy conflict isn’t about never needing a break—it’s about coming back.
