Ever wondered what that "pop" actually is?

It isn't your bones cracking or anything breaking. The fluid around your joints holds dissolved gases, and when an adjustment changes the pressure in the joint, that gas releases and makes the sound you hear.

Not every adjustment makes a sound, and that's completely normal. The goal is getting the joint moving the way it should, not the noise.

What's the one question you've always wanted to ask a chiropractor? Drop it below and our Lafayette team will answer.

Three patients are back to work this week, without the pain that used to hold them back. Brianna can work longer without neck and shoulder pain. Ashley is back to work and back to walking. Heather is working without the restrictions that used to slow her down. Whether your job has you on your feet, at a desk, or lifting all day, pain shouldn't be part of the job description. If work has been harder than it should be lately, we're here to help.

October is National Chiropractic Health Month, and our Scottsville, KY team found the perfect way to kick it off 🐦‍⬛🦴🎃

Heart of Scottsville Invasion of the Scarecrows is back, and local businesses have filled the historic district with one-of-a-kind scarecrows for the whole month. Ours is a pumpkin-headed Dr. Sauer, complete with the lab coat, the beard, and the signature hair. He's hard at work adjusting his very first patient, who the team named Tommy Bones.

The real Dr. Sauer stopped by to check his technique. We think the scarecrow did a pretty good job, but Tommy might need a few more visits.

You can find them on the square near Oishi all October long. The easiest way is to leave our clinic headed toward the square, stop at the stop sign, and look straight ahead. You can't miss them.

While you're downtown, take a stroll through the district, see what our neighbors created, and vote for your favorites. We'd love it if Dr. Sauer and Tommy Bones got yours!

Here's a wellness pairing that's easy to overlook: hydration and movement actually depend on each other.

Water keeps the discs and joints in your spine cushioned and able to move the way they're supposed to, but drinking enough only helps if you're actually moving, since movement is what circulates that hydration to the areas that need it most.

As September wraps up, it's a good moment to reset both habits together. A full water bottle and a short walk go further than either one alone.

Undoing a day of sitting doesn't take a workout. It takes noticing the position you're stuck in and breaking out of it before your body starts to feel it.

Standing up every hour gets blood moving to your joints again. Rolling your shoulders back undoes the forward slump that builds from hours of typing. Adjusting your monitor so you're not craning your neck stops that strain before it becomes a habit.

None of these take real time out of your day, but string a few together and you'll notice the difference by the end of the week.

Sitting most of the day keeps your spine locked in the same position for hours, and your body feels it. Your mid back stiffens up, your neck tightens from looking down at a screen, and your chest rounds forward, pulling your shoulders out of alignment over time.

These three stretches take less than two minutes and target exactly those trouble spots: a seated spinal twist to loosen up the mid back, a neck side stretch to release the tension that builds from screen time, and a doorway or wall chest opener to counter that forward hunch.

Set a reminder to do these once or twice during your workday, and your body will feel the difference by Friday.

Walking is this week's theme, and we could not be prouder of this group. Donna is walking better than she has in years. Lucas is walking without pain. Thomas is walking with a whole lot less pain than before. And Sara didn't just get her walking back, she used it to log over 20,000 steps on a trip to Italy. That's the kind of freedom we love celebrating. If getting back to the walks, trips, or everyday moments you've been missing sounds good to you, give us a call.

Team Cracks Their Own Back or Team Leaves It to the Pros? Tell us in the comments.

That satisfying pop from cracking your own neck or back is just gas releasing from the joint. It's not dangerous by itself, but it also doesn't fix whatever tightness made you want to crack it in the first place, and doing it constantly can turn into a habit that masks a bigger issue.

So today's Myth or Fact: a chiropractic adjustment is the same thing as cracking your own back. It's a myth. An adjustment targets a specific joint with a controlled, assessed amount of force, based on what's actually going on in your spine. Cracking your own back is neither targeted nor assessed, and that's the real difference.

Send this to the friend who cracks their back at their desk.

As the days get shorter, it's common to feel a little more tired or a little less motivated to move, and that's worth paying attention to.

Less daylight can affect mood and energy, which can make it easier to skip the walk or the stretch you'd normally do.

Try to get outside during daylight hours when you can, even for a short walk at lunch, and keep your movement routine going even as the schedule shifts around you. Your body and your mood will both thank you.

Today marks the first day of fall, and a change of season is as good a reason as any to check in on your posture.

Sit up for a second and notice where your shoulders are. Are they rounded forward toward the screen, or relaxed back and down?

A quick reset now and then, shoulders back, chin level, feet flat on the floor, can prevent a lot of the stiffness that builds up from months of the same slouched position.

Our team spent the weekend together at our Integrity Doctors team conference, and it started the right way: bowling on Friday night before a full day of training on Saturday at Dave & Buster's in Indianapolis.

After a full day of training, we got to celebrate together with some arcade games and laughs right there too, including a few brave team members taking on the human claw machine (yes, that's a real thing, and yes, it's exactly as fun as it looks).

From strikes and gutter balls to sessions on serving our patients even better to games and laughs at D&B, it was a weekend well spent.

A team that grows together and laughs together delivers better care, and we're grateful for every person who showed up ready to invest in that.

Here's a look back at the fun!

Heather Smith has one of the biggest hearts on our Lafayette team, and this month the whole clinic got to see it in action!

Heather spent her Volunteer Time Off supporting the American Red Cross at a local blood drive. The idea came from her family, who wanted to turn their love for her mother-in-law into something that would help total strangers. That kind of tribute deserves everything we can give it, so our Lafayette team showed up too, cheering Heather on and rolling up their own sleeves for anyone in our community who needs blood.

And what a day it turned out to be! The American Red Cross shared the final results: 57 donors, 19 of them giving for the very first time, 53 units of blood collected, with the potential to save 159 lives. All from one afternoon in Lafayette, TN.

Heather's family already loved this so much they plan to make it an annual tradition. We cannot wait to be part of it again!

Heather, and our whole Lafayette team, thank you for showing us exactly what it means to take care of each other. We are so proud of you!
