🔬🧪 Science in Action! 🧪🔬

Our students have been putting the scientific method into practice while exploring the fascinating world of chromatography! 🌈

They learned how scientists:
🔎 Ask a question
💡 Form a hypothesis
🧪 Conduct an experiment
👀 Make observations
📊 Analyze results
💭 Draw conclusions

As they experimented with chromatography, students watched colors separate and discovered that what looks like one color can actually be made up of several different pigments!

We love seeing our students ask questions, make predictions, experiment, and discover answers for themselves. Learning science isn’t just about memorizing facts—it’s about being curious and discovering how the world works! ❤️🔬

The Struggle Is REAL! 😂🧱

Today our high schoolers learned that communication sounds a lot easier… until you actually have to do it!

They took on different roles in a LEGO communication challenge:
👀 Observer – could see the finished model and could give directions
📣 Messenger – had to communicate what the observers told them without touching the LEGO.
🧱 Builder – had to listen carefully and recreate the model using only the information being communicated.

Sounds simple, right? Not so much! 😂

There were questions, confusion, frustration, “That’s NOT what I said!” moments, and plenty of rebuilding. But through the struggle, they discovered something important:

Good communication takes more than talking. It takes listening, clarity, patience, asking questions, and being willing to try again.

Sometimes the best lessons aren’t found in a textbook—they’re built one LEGO at a time! ❤️

The struggle is real… but so is the learning! 🧱💬✨

Sometimes the best part of high school is simply getting to know the people you’re sharing it with! ❤️

Today our high school students had the opportunity to slow down, talk, laugh, and learn a little more about one another. Building friendships and creating a sense of community is such an important part of the high school experience.

We’re excited to watch these students grow—not just academically, but also in confidence, friendship, and the ability to support one another. Here’s to a great year of learning, growing, and making memories together! 📚✨

Student Success Tuesday

Sometimes, success isn't measured by a test score.

Sometimes it's hearing a child say...

"I can do it by myself."

For many children with dyslexia, reading can feel overwhelming. But with the right instruction, encouragement, and consistent practice, something amazing begins to happen.

📚 They stop guessing and start decoding.

💙 They stop avoiding books and begin picking them up on their own.

🌟 They stop saying, "I can't," and start believing, "I can."

Those moments may seem small, but they represent something much bigger—confidence.

At Dyslexia Institutes of America – Louisiana, featuring New Heights Academy, we celebrate every breakthrough because every step forward brings a child closer to becoming a confident, independent learner.

❤️ Never underestimate the power of one breakthrough. It could change a child's life forever.

🍎 Monday Parent Tip

Small changes at home can make a big difference in your child’s confidence.

Join us every Monday for practical, research-based tips to support your child’s reading journey.

Give your child time to think.

When your child gets stuck on a word, wait 3–5 seconds before helping.

That extra thinking time encourages problem-solving and builds independence.

Remember, learning to read is a journey—and every small success builds confidence for the next challenge.

💙 Follow us every Monday for practical tips to help your child become a confident reader.

THRIVING THURSDAY

Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

A diagnosis of dyslexia does not determine a child's future. What makes the difference is having the right tools, the right instruction, and the right support.

At Dyslexia Institutes of America – Louisiana, we believe that every child can become a confident reader through:
Evidence-based Structured Literacy
Wilson Reading System® instruction
Encouraging teachers and families
Individualized support

When children are given the tools they need, they don't just learn to read—they gain confidence that lasts a lifetime.

Because every dyslexic learner deserves the tools to succeed.

Follow us every Thursday for encouragement, practical strategies, and reminders that every child has the potential to thrive.
