One of our residents had a friend performing in town this week, so we made an outing of it! It was a wonderful concert, and they sang beautifully. Everyone had such a joyful time.

On to our next adventure at Aster Place! We visited Urban Apples for a hot air balloon and food truck festival. The weather didn’t cooperate, so the hot air balloon rides were postponed, but we still had the best day. We got to listen to a couple of live bands and eat some delicious food. We’re hoping to make it back for the hot air balloon rides because it’s on the bucket list for one of these beautiful ladies.

This was the most fun ! We had dancers come dance for us and explain how belly dancing has become a part of India.

Belly dancing is not traditionally indigenous to India, but it has exploded in popularity across the country in recent years. Largely propelled by Bollywood music videos and the entertainment industry, the art form has been adopted by Indian dancers and evolved into distinct cross-cultural fusion styles.

The Bollywood Connection:

While belly dancing traces its roots back to Egypt and the Middle East, it has found a natural home in Indian pop culture. Bollywood has long sensationalized the "bedleh" (the iconic, ritzy two-piece costume) and hip-centric movements. This stylistic overlap has led to popular Bollywood-Belly dance fusions, blending Middle Eastern isolations with traditional Indian arm and head movements.
