Today we celebrate Maureen Brennan!
Originally from Oklahoma, Maureen moved to Lafayette in 1984 and has called it home ever since. She is the proud mother of three children. A retired clinical psychologist, Maureen spent many years in private practice and also taught psychology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for several semesters.
Throughout her life, Maureen has generously shared her time and talents with the Lafayette community. She has volunteered with numerous organizations, including Teen Court and the R**e Crisis Center, and has made a lasting impact through her service.
A true lover of the arts, Maureen has a passion for music, dancing, and creative expression. She founded the community arts theater, Cité des Arts, and is an accomplished musician, having played the cello, guitar, piano, and mandolin. She also served as president of both Festival International and the Rotary Club. A gifted writer, Maureen played an important role in writing several theatrical productions.
Maureen has traveled extensively around the world. One of her most memorable experiences was being in Turkey during the events of September 11, 2001. She often spoke of the kindness and generosity of the people there, who helped her make her way to Europe before she safely returned home to Lafayette. Among all the places she visited, Ireland and France were her favorites.
A few fun facts about Maureen: she loves pizza, hamburgers, and just about anything sweet! She is especially proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed researching her family's genealogy. Whether through writing, music, or art, Maureen has always embraced creativity and inspired those around her!!!
