Being a physician at Macon Community Hospital means caring for people we truly know. We’re proud
to practice medicine in a place where relationships matter and where care continues to grow.
In 2025, the hospital expanded medical expertise by welcoming new providers and introducing
advanced procedures like Cardiac CTA and TEE cardiology, helping patients receive specialized care
closer to home.
Now, and looking ahead, we’re excited about what 2026 brings, including expanded specialty access
through partnerships, weekly clinic visits with TN Oncology, and the return of cataract surgery. These
additions reflect a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our community.
We’re honored to be part of a hospital that values both medical excellence and personal connection
—because when physicians are invested in their community, care becomes something more. That’s
how a great community helps shape a great hospital!

Continuing Education for Better Patient Care 🔥

Several team members from Macon Community Hospital’s Emergency Department and Therapy Services recently attended Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) Certification training at Skyline Medical Center. We were so grateful to participate in this valuable education opportunity.

This specialized training helps our staff provide the best possible care for patients who arrive in the Emergency Department with burn injuries and supports those who may need physical or occupational therapy services during their recovery process.

We are committed to ongoing education and training so we can continue delivering safe, high-quality care to our community. Thank you to our dedicated team members for investing in their professional development and the health of our patients!

We were honored to welcome State Representative Kelly Keisling to Macon Community Hospital for a tour of our facility!

During his visit, Representative Keisling had the opportunity to see the many improvements and expanded services that continue to enhance healthcare access for our community. He met with Benita Hudson and Scott Tongate to discuss the hospital’s growth and commitment to providing quality care close to home.

Pictured alongside Representative Keisling is our recently painted art mural by local artist Shaun Trent, made possible through a grant awarded to MCH by the Tennessee Arts Commission in early spring 2026. The mural reflects the spirit of our community and serves as a beautiful addition to our hospital.

We appreciate Representative Keisling taking the time to visit and learn more about the services, programs, and continued growth at MCH as we work to meet the healthcare needs of the families we serve.

During the January ice storm, Wanda Winslow had surgery to remove a fluid-filled
cyst that was causing extreme pain in her lower back. For her recovery, she chose
the Swing Bed Program at Macon Community Hospital.
During her 10-day stay, Wanda received both physical and occupational therapy.
“I got my strength back doing physical therapy,” Wanda says. “And the occupational
therapy helped me get back to taking care of myself, from getting dressed to
taking a bath. The therapy staff really took good care of me. I was always glad to
see them.”
The Swing Bed Program at Macon Community Hospital is a Medicare-approved
service specifically designed for patients who no longer need full hospital care but
are not ready to go home.
“Before the surgery, the pain in my lower back could be as high as a 10,” Wanda
says. “Now I have almost no pain. Macon Community Hospital gave me the time to
recover and adjust from my surgery before going home, with all my friends and
family close by.”
This was not Wanda’s first visit as a patient to Macon Community Hospital. “I was
actually born at the hospital,” Wanda says. “And I stayed there once overnight
when I had light vertigo. The care I received that time was just as good. It’s always
been A+!”
