The goal isn’t to never feel nervous. It’s learning that I can feel nervous, uncertain, excited, or afraid—and still ride, compete, and trust myself.

Turns out, confidence isn’t the absence of discomfort. It’s learning that I can handle it. 🐴💙

We had such a wonderful clinic diving into the anatomy of anxiety—and, more importantly, what to actually do when anxiety shows up.

Together, we explored:

✨ Where fear and anxiety are coming from
✨ How to recognize the physical and mental signs of activation
✨ How to clue into what your brain and body are trying to tell you
✨ Practical strategies for working with fear instead of fighting against it
✨ New mental skills and tools to add to each rider’s toolbox

Because confidence isn’t about never feeling nervous.

It’s about understanding what’s happening, knowing what you need, and having the tools to move forward anyway.

More awareness. More tools. More choice. More confidence in the saddle. 🐴

What if it’s not an obstacle, but a bridge?

What if the thing standing in your way isn’t actually blocking your path…

What if it’s connecting you to something?

A new perspective.
A deeper understanding.
A part of yourself you haven’t met yet.
A different way forward.

In equine-assisted psychotherapy, we often get curious about the stories we tell ourselves about what’s “in the way.”

Because sometimes, the thing we’ve been trying so hard to get over is actually something that can help us get across.

Same obstacle.
Different perspective.
Different possibility.

What if it’s not an obstacle, but a bridge? 🐴

This week is Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and I want to shine a light on a topic that’s often hidden but far too common in the equestrian world.

Eating disorders are not about vanity—they are mental health disorders. And sadly, they are more prevalent in our industry than many realize. The pressure to “look the part,” perform at our best, and manage both physical and mental demands can create a breeding ground for unhealthy habits.

But here’s what you need to know:
✨ You are not alone.
✨ Your worth is not defined by your body.
✨ Help is available, and recovery is possible.

If you’re struggling—or if you see a friend struggling—reach out. Organizations like or and providers like offer support, guidance, and hope. 💙

Let’s break the silence. Let’s end the stigma. Let’s Be Herd.

In the rawness of the barn, we meet ourselves without filters — no polish, no pretending.

There’s mud.
There’s weather.
There’s unpredictability.

And there’s truth.

Healing doesn’t happen in perfect conditions — it happens in honest ones.

Therapy isn’t polished. It’s present.
