🇺🇸 MHA-Wabash Valley Region President & CEO Brandi Christiansen had the honor of serving as keynote speaker at the Light Up the Night ceremony for The Wall That Heals in White County.

As a Navy Veteran herself, Brandi spoke from both professional and personal experience about mental health, su***de prevention, Agent Orange, and the struggle of PTSD that so many Vietnam Veterans continue to carry.

Standing before the illuminated Wall was a deeply moving reminder of sacrifice, remembrance, and the responsibility we share to support those who have served.

We are grateful to the Community Foundation for the invitation and for helping bring this powerful experience to our region. We were also honored to share space with Chaplain, Colonel Lelan D. McReynolds, Retired U.S. Air Force, and all those who gathered to remember, reflect, and honor our veterans.

To every veteran: we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful for your service.

June is PTSD Awareness Month, a time to recognize that trauma can affect anyone—and that healing is possible.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While it’s normal to experience fear, stress, or distress after trauma, PTSD may occur when symptoms persist for more than a month and begin interfering with daily life, relationships, work, or school. Common signs can include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, avoidance of reminders of the event, difficulty sleeping, and feeling constantly on edge.

PTSD is more common than many people realize, affecting millions of adults each year. The good news is that support and treatment can help people recover and regain a sense of safety and well-being.

If you’ve experienced trauma and are wondering whether your symptoms may be related to PTSD, taking a mental health screening can be a helpful first step. MHA’s screenings are free, confidential, and designed to help you better understand what you may be experiencing. A screening is not a diagnosis, but it can help determine whether reaching out to a mental health professional may be beneficial.

Pride is about celebrating identity, resilience, and the courage to live authentically. 🌈💙
At Mental Health America Wabash Valley Region, we know that being your authentic self can be one of the best ways to protect your mental well-being. But for many in the LGBTQ+ community, stigma, discrimination, and lack of support can still create real mental health challenges.
This Pride Month, we encourage everyone to prioritize their mental health, support one another, and remember: you are never alone. 💛
If you or someone you know could use support, Mental Health America offers free, confidential mental health screenings and LGBTQ+ mental health resources.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, the conversation doesn’t stop here. 💚

Mental health matters every day — today, tomorrow, and always. Throughout May, we’ve been reminded of the power of support, kindness, and connection. Sometimes, a simple message can make all the difference.

This year’s Mental Health America theme encouraged us to support each other to have more good days and that checking in with others makes people feel seen, heard, and supported. No matter what you’re facing, you are not alone. There is hope, help, and a community that cares. 🌟

Thank you for helping us raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind others that their story matters. Let’s continue carrying these conversations beyond May, and lets have more good days together.

Women’s mental health matters 💚
Women face unique mental health challenges throughout every stage of life — from caregiving and career stress to postpartum mental health, hormonal changes, and everyday pressures. You are not alone, and support is always important.
This International Day of Women’s Health, let’s continue the conversation, support one another, and prioritize mental wellness just as much as physical health. 🌿
