In Louisiana, about 1 in 10 residents receives healthcare services from a Community Health Center. Health centers offer primary care, dental and mental health services to residents across our community, no matter their insurance status or income.

Health centers are a critical component of our local healthcare system and we're so grateful for the work they do across our Southwest Louisiana region!

✨ Allow us to introduce you to Lisa LaRochelle ✨

Lisa came to SWLAHEC in November 2023 with 16 years of experience in the field of infant and early childhood mental health. She serves as a Senior Mental Health Consultant for the statewide TIKES team, providing consultation to early childhood centers and reflective supervision for other consultants around the state.

Lisa cherishes the opportunity to work with the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community. She's making a real and tangible difference one classroom, one teacher, one child at a time! πŸ’™πŸ’š

All drownings are preventable, yet drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4 in Louisiana. Simple steps like keeping young children within arm’s reach of an adult around water, using correctly sized life vests, and more can save a child’s life.

Together, when we all practice water safety, we can protect every child in Louisiana from drowning.

We had a wonderful summer hosting Camp Fast Forward in communities across our region. This week, we're hosting our last one in Opelousas and we invited LPB to come out and see what all the fuss is about!

These kids could be doing anything this summer, but they chose to spend their time learning and getting a first-hand look at some of the cool healthcare career opportunities that exist right here in our community.

We are SO proud of these students! We're spreading the word - Southwest Louisiana's future shines bright! πŸ’šπŸ’™
