Does this surprise you??

Almost every month a patient asks me about hair loss. They notice more hair shedding and even thinning. Sometimes hair shedding can be normal but when we see signs of thinning or balding that means something underlying is going on.

But what if our labs are normal?! This points to another issue that could have caused stress to the body and ended up in hair loss. The good news is that treating the underlying cause which is usually more environmental, we can see improvements in hair regrowth. Of course always do check labs and make sure there are not vitamin/mineral deficiencies as well.

I’m just going to leave this perimenopause talk here. I have so much more to say about it. Bottom line is - during our 40s a lot is changing in our bodies and having normal estrogen levels doesn’t tell the full story. Our 40’s is the best time to start making changes in our lifestyle, taking appropriate supplements, and even starting HRT. All these things combine help us live our best life…longer!
