The coolest summer internship isn't always where you'd expect. โ˜€๏ธ
Behind every meaningful goodbye is a team that cares deeply. This summer we've had the privilege of mentoring one incredible intern. Katelyn comes to us from Colorado State University and we could not be more grateful for her!
Thank you for bringing curiosity, heart, and a great attitude to everything you do. The future of funeral service is in good hands. ๐Ÿ’™

On this National Parents Day, we're honoring the parents of the McCormick & Son family. Those who raised us, inspired us, and helped shape the people we are today. We're also celebrating the parents on our team who continue that legacy with their own children.

Thank you to every parent and parent figure for the care, strength, and compassion you share each day. Happy National Parents Day from all of us at McCormick & Son. ๐Ÿ’™

Today is International Self-Care Day, and while self-care often brings to mind bubble baths, exercise, or quiet moments, it can also mean giving yourself permission to grieve.
Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and there is no "right" way to carry it. Some days you may want to talk. Other days you may need solitude, support, or simply the grace to feel what you're feeling. Taking care of your heart after loss is one of the most important forms of self-care.
If you or someone you love is navigating grief, know that you don't have to do it alone. Our team is here to offer guidance, support, and compassionate care whenever you need us.

We were honored to participate in yesterday's Orange County Probation Wellness Fair, where we had the opportunity to share resources and information with the dedicated Orange County Probation officers and staff. It was a pleasure connecting with everyone, and we especially enjoyed meeting the department's highly trained K9 teams. Thank you to Orange County Probation for including us in this wonderful event!

๐ŸŒ• National Moon Day has us thinking about something most people never do โ€” what does it mean to lay someone to rest 240,000 miles from home?
NASA has actual contingency plans for this. If an astronaut were to pass away on the lunar surface, the options are limited: return the remains to orbit, or interment on the Moon itself using whatever containment the mission has on hand that is built to last 50+ years. Every detail, down to shrouding the remains for privacy, is planned with the same goal we hold to every day: dignity, honor, and respect.
Even light-years from the traditions we know, care for the departed doesn't change. It just has to be reimagined.

Did you know that America began experimenting with embalming before the mid-1800s, but it didn't become widespread until the American Civil War.

Before the 1860's, embalming was rare in the United States. Most people were buried within a day or two of death, so there was little need for preservation.

However, the Civil War was the turning point. Thousands of soldiers died far from home, and families wanted their loved ones returned for burial. Embalming made long-distance transportation possible. Independent embalmers often traveled with armies, offering their services to officers and enlisted men whose families could afford it.
