Meet Jonas.

He got caught drinking on campus. One bad decision could have meant suspension, missing time in school and sitting at home thinking about what went wrong.

Instead, Jonas was referred to California Youth Services’ Alternative to Suspension program, where he had the opportunity to understand what led to his choice, learn from it, and build the skills to make better decisions moving forward.

But that was only the beginning of Jonas’ journey with CYS.

As we got to know Jonas and his family, we were able to connect them with additional support to address the challenges behind that one bad decision, not just the behavior itself.

Over the next few months, we’ll follow Jonas’ journey and show how California Youth Services works alongside youth and families to help them rise above challenges.
