What a week! Dr. John Hovanesian was in Armenia last week for the Armenian EyeCare Project’s 66th medical mission, and it’s been a meaningful one. Adriana Dermenjian

Since 1992, AECP has worked to eliminate preventable blindness in Armenia and make quality eye care accessible to everyone. Dr. Hovanesian serves as the organization’s Vice President.

👁️ Dr. Hovanesian in the operating room, performing surgery alongside Armenian and American colleagues
🏥 The opening of the John and Tanya Hovanesian Regional Diagnostic Eye Clinic in Artashat. It’s AECP’s 16th medical facility in Armenia and the first in Ararat Province. It offers advanced eye exams and outpatient care, with plans to add laser treatment for diabetes and glaucoma patients and surgical services.

The mission runs alongside the AECP–CHLA 24th International Ophthalmology Conference in Yerevan. That’s a week of complex surgeries, hands-on training in the wet lab, and lectures for the next generation of Armenian ophthalmologists.

We’re proud to have Dr. Hovanesian representing Harvard Eye Associates on this mission. More to come this week, so stay tuned!

We’re so excited that Glaukos Corporation has partnered with NBA Champion Wardell Curry to raise awareness for keratoconus (KC). We are proud to support this initiative that encourages more people to recognize the signs and symptoms of KC, ask questions, and prioritize their eye health.

Keratoconus is a sight-threatening eye disease in which the cornea weakens and thins over time, causing blurry or distorted vision. With early diagnosis and treatment, it’s possible to preserve more of your vision.

Harvard Eye Associates is proud to be one of the first practices to offer Epioxa, the first FDA-approved incision-free corneal cross-linking treatment for keratoconus. Epioxa is designed to slow or stop KC from getting worse without removing the outer layer of the cornea, which means a more comfortable experience and a faster return to daily life for our patients.
