One of my favorite seasons to work with clients through is midlife.

It can be such a misunderstood season. There can be restlessness, questioning, grief, changing relationships and roles, and a sense that the life that once fit doesn’t quite fit in the same way anymore.

We’re quick to label this a “midlife crisis,” but I often see something else happening.

An awakening.

A time when women begin asking deeper questions about who they are now, what they want, what they’ve outgrown, and how they want to live the next chapter of their lives.

It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to blow up your life or reinvent yourself. Sometimes it means slowing down long enough to listen to what’s changing within you.

Maybe it’s not a midlife crisis. Maybe it’s a midlife awakening. ✨

The world may see me as a mother of 2, but I will always be a mother of 3. There will always be one missing that I’m carrying in my heart.

This is something many people who have never experienced pregnancy, infant, or child loss may not fully understand: we do not stop being their parents simply because they are no longer physically here.

We continue to love them. We remember them. We speak their names. We wonder who they would have become. We carry them into every season of our lives. We still parent them, just in a different way.

The brain is constantly interpreting information, filling in gaps, and creating narratives to help us understand what is happening.

Those narratives are shaped by past experiences, emotions, memory, and the nervous system’s drive to predict and protect.

That means the story we tell ourselves is not always the same as objective reality. A thought like “I’m failing” may actually be the brain’s attempt to explain stress, uncertainty, grief, or overwhelm.

When we pause and examine the story with curiosity, we create space for a more accurate and compassionate interpretation. We may not be able to change what happened, but we can become more aware of the meaning our brain has attached to it.

What story might your brain be ready to reconsider?

Our nervous system pays attention to the way we speak to ourselves.

“I have to…”
often feels like pressure.

“I get to…”
creates space for choice and gratitude.

The words may be small.
The impact often isn’t.

Some songs become woven into the moments that divide our lives into before and after.

Sixteen years later, Hallelujah still brings me back to the day I learned my son Dylan was missing half of his heart, but I hold it differently now.

I can smile and cry. Remember and remain present. Miss him deeply and still choose to live fully.

Healing is creating enough space to carry both the love and the grief.

This is why I do the work I do.

Midlife can bring changes we did not expect including relationships shifting, roles changing, children growing up, and questions about who we are now.

What may initially feel like restlessness or uncertainty can sometimes be an invitation to look inward, reconnect with the parts of ourselves we have abandoned, and become more intentional about the life we want to create next.

Perhaps this season is about awakening to our highest Self.✨

So many people wait until they are completely depleted before acknowledging how much they are carrying.

You are allowed to ask for support before you reach that point.

One pattern I’ve noticed in both my work and my own life is that, at some point, the questions begin to change. We stop asking, “How do I get back to who I used to be?” and begin asking, “Who do I want to become?”

This is the heart of my work: supporting people through grief, trauma, and life transitions as they move from surviving toward living more fully.

If you feel something new beginning to unfold within you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Feel free to message me to schedule a complimentary consultation. 🦋

As a sensitive, you notice things that many overlook. Many of my clients who choose to do deep inner work are sensitives. Sensitivity lies on a spectrum.

Since early as I can remember, solitude, silence, and stillness have been my ways of coping with a world that has always felt like too much. In that space, I feel a warmth, comfort, expansion, higher perspective, and a peaceful field of interconnection. It’s hard to explain to those who haven’t experienced it, but for those who have, their description is very similar to mine.

We don’t talk about spirituality enough and it is such a large part of our being. But the topic surfaces often with my clients because loss and grief leave many of us searching spiritually.

Lately the world feels especially dark. The collective suffering can feel overwhelming—especially for sensitives.

Last night when I was meditating and in that field of awareness, this message came to me:

We cannot allow fear to determine who we become. In that space of silence and peace, is the gentle reminder that we are here for a reason and that we must choose hope, faith, compassion, and humanity over and over again. 💜
