Here is our current home birth availability. Spring is shaping up to be a busy baby season! If you've just found out you're pregnant and wanting to start care with us, don't wait to reach out! Although we are full some months, we have unlimited availability for those just wanting prenatal/postpartum care only and plan to deliver in the hospital.

A new chapter begins! ✨

We will now be offering both in-office visits as well as home visits, giving families more options for care that feels right for them. We are also now welcoming clients seeking prenatal-only care for hospital births — allowing more families to experience personalized midwifery support during pregnancy while planning for delivery in the hospital setting.

Our hope is to make midwifery care more accessible!We’re so grateful to continue serving our community in new ways and can’t wait to welcome you into this next chapter with us!

International Day of the Midwife 🌱 The day is almost over but we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to reflect and acknowledge the importance of today.

From midwife Haley 🤍:

“This calling requires sacrifice, in more ways than one. It requires a patient heart, and wise hands. It requires us to not only be there for the abundance of joy but also the life changing moments of true grief.

It is a calling that I could never ignore. How special is it that I get to kneel at the feet of mothers, bear witness as they walk thru the fire of labor to bring their babies to this side. Be a source of grounding and support when things don’t go according to plan, and to be a part of your story no matter what that looks like.

Today I reflect not only on my own work as a midwife, but the midwives who were with me in those moments where I had to walk my own path, and the midwives who have shaped my own practices today.
We are all just trying to change the world, one birth at a time.”

Kelsey Duncan, birth assistant

Kelsey first discovered a passion for Women’s health in 2022 when she became a certified yoga instructor and offered classes tailored toward women and their unique needs. Following that, she became a certified personal trainer and continued to work with women helping them in their fitness journey, including those who were pregnant and freshly postpartum. It wasn’t until she had her first child in 2023 that she realized her passion for women’s health extended to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. She had the pleasure of having her second child at home within the care of Riverbend Midwifery and fell in love with home birth and the midwifery model of care. She is so excited to be joining the team as a birth assistant and feels incredibly lucky to be able to be a part of such a sacred time for so many women. She hopes to do her part to help women feel safe, seen, heard, supported and empowered during their birth experience.

Kelsey is a wife, a mother of two wonderful daughters, Rosie and Ivy, an avid reader and a lover of all things nature and travel. She can’t wait to see where this journey in birth work takes her in the years to come!

Holli Best, birth assistant

Holli is a doula and has been working with moms, babies and families in Gainesville since 2004. She is DONA trained, CommonSense and GROW certified. Along with her birthwork she has a background in early childhood education, child development and attachement. Holli has been birth assisting with Riverbend Midwifery since 2023.

Jade Rodriguez, birth assistant

Jade is a baker, mom of two feral kiddos & wife of a local farmer. She discovered birthwork in 2017 following the birth of her oldest child and has never looked back. After taking her first doula training in 2020, she hopped into birthwork and discovered her passion for nurturing families through one of the most vulnerable, fortifying and transformative events of life: birth. Jade believes that it is one of the highest honors to be allowed within a birth space and hopes to echo that in every action and interaction while serving your family.

Jade is a trained birth doula through both DONA Int’l and ProDoula, holds certification in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and is working toward a certification in Childbirth Education. She has been supporting families on their journey into parenthood since late 2020 and hopes to continue providing support to new families for years to come.
