Avalea (pronounced Ava-lee) Marie was born peacefully in water at home to her amazing mother who births like it is just a regular day. Only at the very end does she even make a noise. I am honored to have served this mom a 4th time. Labor was quick, but the right amount of time for everyone who needed to be there to get there. It was my assistant’s first 2nd birth with anyone, which she has managed to miss every other second labor this year for one reason or another. Avalea was 8 lbs, 4 oz, and was 20 inches long. Welcome, sweet girl! I know your siblings are excited to meet you!

This sweet little chub of a cherub was born so fast Tuesday morning. Mom woke up at 8 with some cramping that seemed like all the other nights and mornings, but when they didn’t stop after getting up and getting the kids breakfast, she called the midwife! The midwife and dad had about a 15 minute drive to her, and I was so glad she asked me to come! Two minutes before I got there, her water broke, and 30 minutes after that we had a baby! She was born so smoothly and gently on the bathroom floor, caught by her mama. Karabella Marie was born at 10:17 am, into this loving home with her mom, dad, sister, and brother. Big sister is over the moon that it was a girl! . It was a birth to remember! Mom’s doula and photographer came in a few minutes after Karabella was born, followed by the midwife assistant. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ We weren’t ready for the swiftness of this labor! This little chub chub was a perfect 7 pounds 11 ounces, and was 19 inches long.
Welcome, sweet girl! Your midwife is so happy you waited for her to come back from vacation!

I like the fresh-out-of-the-womb pictures for the announcement. Mommy and daddy really liked the one of her sucking mom’s finger during the newborn exam (because she wasn’t happy and her midwife had to listen to her belly sounds which is near impossible when they have things to say about it), so I’m posting both!
Scout Lillian joined us at 8:14 am on a Monday morning, 6/22/26 (very cool birthday, as it is the same both ways), in her mom’s first water birth (she highly recommends), after a 4 hour labor. I missed the last one by about 10-15 minutes, so I was very happy to have been here for this one. Her eldest sister was born in the same house with Daddy on FaceTime as he was deployed in Kuwait while this midwife caught her over the toilet. I have had the honor of serving this family through Scout and her two sisters. Her two brothers were born in military hospitals in other states. I am honored to have been chosen to walk this journey with this family multiple times. Scout was mommy’s biggest at 6 lbs, 14 oz, and was 20.5 inches long. Welcome, sweet girl!

Well, this little big guy was in no hurry to get here! He made it just over 42 weeks, and as patient and sure mom was the whole pregnancy, she even needed reminders on God’s timing at the end. What a handsome squish, totally worth the wait!
Theodore Daniel was born in water at “the little house” on Saturday, June 13 at 11:40 am after a long night. He makes his mom and dad parents for the first time, and he is a lucky one with these two he was blessed with! Both of his parents were in the 9 pound range and he wanted to be just like them! Little Teddy weighed 9 pounds, 13 ounces and was 22 inches long. And let me tell ya, he has been nursing almost constantly since after that first nap and barely lost any weight at all at his 2 day visit. He has a figure to keep up!
Welcome, sweet boy. 💙

This little guy made mommy wait much longer than she thought she would have to meet him! Mom had a 38 week baby the first time, so we assumed little brother would follow suit. Nope! He made it a day over the due date!
Luca Christian joined us on Friday, June 5, at 2:48 pm after what seemed like a long and hard labor at home. It’s just amazing the energy one gets right after having a baby most of the time! Luca is such a doll! His big sister immediately acted like he has always been there. I’m honored to have served this sweet family as they embark on the journey of having KIDS ☺️. Luca weighed 7 lbs, 14oz (just look at that arm squish!), and was 19.5 inches long. Welcome, squishy little boy!

This little sister is the third little sister for her biggest sister and fourth little sister to the only brother they have. I have had the honor and pleasure of serving this family three times now, and they feel like family.
Isabelle Eloise made her entrance Monday, June 1 at 5:32 pm. Mom really wanted a May baby, but she had different plans! She was born gently in water and mom’s exclamation when she was born, “I feel great now,” will stick with me forever. Isabelle weighed a big, chunky 10 lbs, 13 oz and was 19 3/4 inches with my torn measuring tape, but 21 inches at the pediatrician the next day. 😅 Either May or June, we are all happy you are here, sweet girl!

Eliana Lyubov (Love) joined us not Thursday when labor started, not Friday, but in the wee hours of Saturday morning, May 30, at 3:15 am at 40 weeks and 4 days (which is almost unheard of with first time moms). She was worth the wait!! She made her mama work hard to get her here, and mom wasn’t sure she could do it, but we knew she could! Make sure you surround yourself with people who believe in you! Mom tried for that water birth, but ended up on the bed, because when it gets to that level of exhaustion and discomfort, you don’t care where you are, just get this baby out!! And as always, mom got that rush of baby bliss adrenaline when she got here and just instant love and connection! It was my pleasure and honor to have served this couple as they became parents for the first time, and I hope to hear from them in the coming years multiple times!
Eliana weighed 8 lbs, 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Autumn Hazel (Pumpkin Spice Latte) was born after a slightly longer than this midwife expected second labor, Tuesday, May 26 at 1:28 pm. Sometimes, we have to get to that place of surrender to just let the baby come, and this was one of those times. Autumn’s mommy pushed her out so gracefully, and when that second little girl came, we can be pretty sure mommy and daddy make clones. Autumn looks just like her sister before her, and is just the sweetest! She weighed 7 pounds 12 oz, and was 21 inches long. Welcome, sweet girl!

Steven Nikolai was born quickly on the bed at home, mom in hands and knees position. I had got there for her prenatal appointment and she had just notified me about 30 minutes prior, “today might be it.” Her contractions were the right distance apart for labor, but just weren’t bothering her that much. I hung out to see where it might go, and had lunch. She came out to the table to talk and we talked about how it might kick over after the kids go to bed. She went back to lay down, and a few minutes later, I hear, “her water broke.” 20 minutes later, we had a chunk of a baby on the outside. Steven was born May 12, at 3:02 pm, was 10 pounds, and 22 inches long. By the time I left I was pretty sure he was going to be just like a marsupial and stay attached until he could walk. His brother and sister were so happy he was here, but his big brother did NOT want to see the placenta! 😅❤️ Welcome, sweet boy. We are all so happy you are here.

Oh yeah! It's international day of the midwife! Happy day to all the midwives who have gone before me, whose lives have touched mine, and to all those who will come after me. It's definitely a calling, a purpose unparalleled by nothing but motherhood, and a career that takes everything one has.
I still dream of being a park ranger one day, but midwifery still has a hold on me. 12 years and counting. Thank you to my community's unwavering friendship, support, and love. Happy International Midwives Day, IMD.
