Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do in a relationship is pause before you respond.

When emotions are high, your nervous system may be reacting to a threat—not necessarily the moment in front of you.

Take a moment. Breathe. Regulate. Then come back to the conversation.

A pause isn't avoidance when the intention is to return and repair.

Sometimes we're carrying things nobody else can see.

Disappointment.

Grief.

A relationship that has changed.

An unanswered prayer.

Family responsibilities.

Worry about our children.

The pressure to keep everything together.

And because we're still functioning, everybody assumes we're okay.

But functioning and being well aren't always the same thing.

So here's today's question:

What have you been carrying that you're ready to stop carrying alone?

You don't have to answer publicly.

But I do want you to answer it for yourself. 🤎

That's the kind of space we're creating at Pour It Out—room to acknowledge what's heavy and begin making space for something different.

Feeling loved matters—but so does feeling **safe**.

Emotional safety means you can be honest, have needs, set boundaries, disagree, and still trust that the connection can survive difficult moments.

Healthy relationships aren't conflict-free. They create space for **respect, consistency, vulnerability, and repair.** 🤍

**What helps you feel emotionally safe in a relationship?**

When was the last time you rested without feeling guilty about it?

Not catching up on laundry while you watched TV.

Not answering emails from the couch.

Not taking care of everybody else while calling it a “day off.” 😩

I mean actually RESTED.

Some women have become so accustomed to doing that, slowing down almost feels uncomfortable.

But rest isn't something you have to earn after you've completely exhausted yourself.

At Pour It Out, we're making room for something many women rarely give themselves:

Permission to pause.

Let me ask you…

If you had an entire day with nothing you had to do for anyone else, how would you spend it?

Anxiety can make relationships feel harder than they have to be.

You may overthink what your partner meant, avoid difficult conversations, need constant reassurance, or assume disconnection means something is wrong.

But healthier relationships aren't built by eliminating every anxious moment. They're built by learning how to respond differently when anxiety shows up.

Get curious instead of assuming.
Talk before resentment builds.
Learn what helps each other feel connected.
Repair after conflict.
And make time for intentional connection.

Sometimes the smallest changes create the most emotional safety. 🤍

A few things I’ve shared in the therapy room lately…

Sometimes the things we talk about in therapy are simple reminders we already know…but need permission to actually live out. 🤍

Which one did you need to hear today?

**Can I ask you something?**

When was the last time you allowed someone to pour into **you**?

Not because something was wrong.

Not because you had reached your breaking point.

But simply because **you needed it.**

Some of us have become so accustomed to being the strong one, the dependable one, the praying one, the listening one, and the one everybody calls that we don't always recognize when **our own cup is getting empty.**

That's part of the reason **Pour It Out** means so much to me.

I want women to have a day where they don't have to take care of anybody else.

A day to breathe.

A day to worship.

A day to reflect on what they've been carrying.

A day to laugh and connect.

And maybe even a day to admit:

**“I've been carrying more than I realized.”**

So here's my question for you today:

🤎 **What is one thing YOU need more of in this season—rest, peace, connection, clarity, healing, joy, or something else?**

Tell me in the comments. I really want to hear from you.

And if you've been thinking about joining us for **Pour It Out: Circle of Healing for Women**, consider this your invitation. 🌿

Relationship anxiety can make everything feel urgent.

You want reassurance.
You overthink the text.
You assume something is wrong.
Or you pull away before you can get hurt.

Before reacting, pause and ask:

What am I feeling?
What do I actually know to be true?
What do I need right now?

Then regulate before you communicate.

Not every anxious feeling means something is wrong—but it may be showing you where you need more clarity, connection, or emotional safety.

The goal isn't to never feel anxious.
It's to stop letting anxiety make your relationship decisions for you. 🤍

Anxiety can get really loud in relationships.

“Are we okay?”
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Why haven't they responded?”
“Maybe I should pull away first.”
“What if they leave?”

And before you know it, you're responding to what you fear is happening instead of what is actually happening.

Relationship anxiety often has a deeper question underneath it:

“Am I emotionally safe here?”

Learning to recognize the fear beneath the overthinking, reassurance-seeking, shutting down, or pulling away can help you respond differently.

Sometimes the work isn't just calming the anxiety—it's understanding what it's trying to protect you from. 🤍

Which one does your anxiety say the loudest?
