While dizziness and vertigo are often used interchangeably, they describe different sensations.

Dizziness is a feeling of being lightheaded, unsteady, foggy, or as though you might lose your balance. You may feel faint, woozy, or unsure of your footing, especially when standing or moving. Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness that creates the sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning, tilting, or moving when they are not. Vertigo can come on suddenly and may be accompanied by nausea, imbalance, or difficulty walking.

Both dizziness and vertigo can have many causes, including inner ear problems, migraines, dehydration, blood pressure changes, medications, head injuries, or other medical conditions.

If symptoms are new, severe, recurring, or affecting your ability to walk or complete daily activities, it’s important to speak with a healthcare provider.

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord become damaged, often affecting the hands and feet. It can be caused by diabetes, certain medications, vitamin deficiencies, or other medical conditions.

Rehabilitation can help manage peripheral neuropathy. Physical therapy can help improve strength, balance, coordination, and mobility through personalized exercise programs, gait training, and balance activities. Occupational therapy can help patients remain independent by addressing daily activities, home safety, and adaptive equipment needs to reduce fall risks.

Today is a special day as we celebrate Ronnie’s discharge!

After an accident left him unable to walk or move the right side of his body, Ronnie came to ClearSky Lake City ready to work. Through determination, hard work, and countless hours of therapy, he made incredible progress throughout his recovery.

We are so proud of all he has accomplished during his time with us, and we can’t wait to see all that lies ahead for him.

Congratulations, Ronnie. We’ll miss you, but we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. It can be caused by muscle or ligament strains, herniated or bulging discs, spinal arthritis, poor posture, weak core muscles, osteoporosis, or spinal stenosis.

Physical therapy can help manage back pain by restoring movement, improving function, and supporting long-term spine health. Physical therapists create personalized treatment plans that may include exercises, hands-on techniques, and education to help patients move safely and confidently. Physical therapy also can help to strengthen the core, back, and hip muscles to better support the spine, improve flexibility and mobility, increase circulation and postural awareness, and teach proper movement and lifting techniques to help prevent future pain or injuries.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that causes blood sugar (glucose) levels to become too high. The symptoms often develop gradually and can be mistaken for other health issues, but recognizing them early can help prevent serious complications.

Watch for these early warning signs:

• Frequent urination, especially at night
• Excessive thirst
• Constant hunger
• Unexplained weight loss
• Persistent fatigue or weakness
• Blurry vision
• Slow-healing cuts or wounds
• Tingling or numbness in your hands or feet
• Frequent urinary tract or yeast infections
• Dark, velvety patches of skin on the neck, underarms, or groin

If you're experiencing one or more of these symptoms, speak with your healthcare provider.

The right equipment can make a difference on the road to recovery.

Specialized bariatric equipment, including beds, lifts, wheelchairs, and mobility aids, help patients begin moving sooner, reducing the risk of falls and other complications while supporting a safer, faster recovery. It also promotes comfort, dignity, and independence, giving patients the confidence to actively participate in therapy and everyday activities. At the same time, it helps protect healthcare professionals by making patient transfers safer and less physically demanding.

If you feel you require this type of equipment, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider.
