Postpartum breast care is an important part of your breastfeeding journey, helping you stay comfortable and prevent common concerns. 🌿

Breast Care Tips:
• Milk Leakage
Leaking is normal, especially in the early weeks. Nursing pads can help keep you dry and comfortable throughout the day. 💧

• Proper Bra Fit
Choose a supportive nursing bra that fits well without being too tight. Bras with metal underwire can place pressure on milk ducts if not fitted correctly, which may lead to discomfort. 👚

• Ni**le Care
Avoid using soaps or creams directly on your ni***es, as they can dry the skin and lead to cracking. Instead, allow breast milk to air dry on the ni**le area to help keep skin healthy. 🌼

✨ Postpartum Pointer:
Comfort matters. If something feels off like pain, cracking, or ongoing discomfort, it’s a good idea to reach out for support early.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way. 💛 https://www.stewartmemorial.org/services/pregnancy-obstetrics/lactation/

Vaccination during pregnancy is an important step in protecting both you and your baby. Receiving recommended vaccines at the right time can help reduce the risk of serious illness during pregnancy and provide early protection for your newborn.

Vaccines recommended during pregnancy may include:
• COVID-19
• Influenza (flu)
• Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)
• Hepatitis B
• Pneumococcal
• RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)

Vaccines not recommended during pregnancy:
Live vaccines such as measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), and varicella (chickenpox) are not recommended during pregnancy.

Every pregnancy is unique. Talk with your provider about which vaccines are appropriate for you and when to receive them. Staying up to date on recommended vaccines is one way to support a healthy pregnancy and protect your baby from the very beginning.

Breastfeeding looks different for every mom and baby, and finding a position that feels comfortable can make all the difference. 🤍

Here are a few breastfeeding positions to try postpartum:

• Cradle Hold
Hold your baby chest to chest, keeping their ear, shoulder, and hip in a straight line. Support their head in the bend of your arm while guiding them to latch.

• Laid-Back Position
Lean back comfortably with your baby resting tummy-to-tummy on your chest. This position allows gravity to help and can feel more relaxed, especially in the early days.

• Side-Lying Position
Lie on your side with your baby facing you. This is a great option for nighttime feeds or when you need extra rest while feeding.

• Clutch (Football) Hold
Tuck your baby under your arm (like holding a football) with their body alongside your side. This can be helpful after a C-section or for better visibility during latch.

✨ Postpartum Pointer:
No matter the position, focus on comfort and alignment. Bring your baby to you (not you to baby), keep their body facing yours, and use pillows for support when needed.

Every feeding journey is unique, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. 🤍 https://www.stewartmemorial.org/services/pregnancy-obstetrics/lactation/
