Today’s full study results for the Alzheimer’s treatment donanemab bring more hope for those living with early Alzheimer’s. Nearly half of study participants at the earliest stage of disease who received the drug had no decline at one year.

“These benefits are real and meaningful,” says Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D, our chief science officer “With this fuller picture, there is additional, convincing scientific evidence that thoroughly removing beta amyloid from the brain is associated with significant slowing of disease progression in people living with early Alzheimer’s.”

The drug appeared to more effective than the recently approved drug Leqembi, but it may also come with higher rates of dangerous side effects.
