BPA, receipts, plastic bottles, and pregnancy… should you worry? 🤍

Pregnancy can make everyday choices feel bigger. Things like receipts, plastic water bottles, canned foods, and food containers often come up in conversations about BPA exposure.

The good news is this: you do not need to be perfect. A healthy pregnancy is not about fear. It’s about making small, realistic choices when you can and giving yourself grace along the way.

Simple ways to reduce exposure:
• choose email receipts when possible
• avoid heating food in plastic
• use glass or stainless steel more often
• wash your hands after handling receipts

Small changes count, and peace of mind matters too 🤍

What is an NT scan, and why is it important in early pregnancy? 🤍

The Nuchal Translucency (NT) scan is a first trimester ultrasound usually done between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days. It measures the small fluid-filled space at the back of baby’s neck as part of early screening for certain chromosomal abnormalities and other potential concerns.

This scan can provide valuable early information about your baby’s development and may be combined with bloodwork and other markers for a more complete picture.

✨ Important to know: NT measurement is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A normal result can be reassuring, while an increased measurement may mean your provider recommends more testing.

If you’re in the first trimester, understanding what this scan looks for can help you feel more informed and prepared during your pregnancy journey.

You came in thinking you were 6 weeks…
but we only saw the gestational sac 🤍

And the first question is always…
“Is everything okay?”

The answer is yes, most of the time, it’s simply too early.

Pregnancy dating can be off by a few days, and at around 5 weeks, it’s completely normal to only see the sac without a heartbeat yet.

💓 Heartbeat usually becomes visible around 6 weeks

That’s why at True Ultrasound, we offer something special for our moms:
✨ If it’s too early to see the heartbeat, you get 50% OFF your follow-up scan

Because we understand… sometimes you just need that reassurance 🤍

There’s something so special about seeing your baby’s face at 37 weeks 🥰🤍

In this Reel, you’ll see beautiful 2D and 3D images captured here at True Ultrasound. At this stage of pregnancy, babies are getting cozy, which sometimes makes capturing clear facial images a little more challenging.

While there’s no guaranteed way to increase amniotic fluid, staying well hydrated for a few days before your appointment may help optimize your ultrasound images. Drinking water consistently (not just the morning of your scan) can make a difference.

Every baby is unique, and sometimes they’re just snuggled in tight and camera shy 💕

If you’re in Orange County and would love to bond with your baby through a 2D, 3D, or 4D ultrasound experience, we’d love to welcome you.

This image shows a classic early pregnancy sign often referred to as the diamond ring sign.
The ring represents the yolk sac, the diamond is the baby, and the flickering movement is the early heartbeat.

With advanced ultrasound technology, these early pregnancy structures can often be seen transabdominally around 6 weeks, providing reassurance during the first trimester.

At 38 weeks, this baby is already sucking on their fingers — and it’s more than just adorable.

✨ Why babies suck their fingers in the womb:
• It’s a natural sucking reflex
• Helps strengthen muscles for feeding
• Prepares babies for breastfeeding and latching after birth

This is a great sign of normal fetal development and self-soothing before meeting the world 🌎🤍

Babies can hiccup in the womb, even early in pregnancy 🤍
It’s a normal sign of development as they practice breathing and strengthen their diaphragm. Most moms won’t feel hiccups until later, but seeing them on ultrasound is pure magic.

Experiencing spotting or bleeding in the first trimester can be frightening, but it doesn’t always mean something is wrong. One of the most common causes is a subchorionic hemorrhage (SCH), a pocket of blood seen on ultrasound that many moms develop in early pregnancy. With proper monitoring, most SCH cases resolve and lead to healthy babies.

At True Ultrasound in Lake Forest, we offer early pregnancy ultrasounds to confirm the cause of bleeding, check your baby’s heartbeat, and provide peace of mind. If you’ve noticed brown discharge, pink spotting, or bright red bleeding, an ultrasound can help you understand exactly what’s happening.
